Serious buddies. You know the kind. They've rode the river together.

Pals. Compadres. Co-owners of a firearms and accessories business that's fairly well known among the cognoscenti of handgun martial artists. Spend any time with these fellows and you'll soon notice they take great delight (and rarely miss an opportunity) to take a good fun loving dig at each other. Make no mistake though - these two have each other's backs.

They train. Practice regimens often constitute hundreds of rounds per session. Each shot meant to count.

Some time ago, they commissioned me to build them a matching pair of 'all business' customs. They spent a good amount of time putting together their idea of the perfect fighting handgun.

Those ideas resulted in the following....

Very, very nice!! Are those the first rail guns that you have built? I have seen pictures of quite a bit of your work, but I don't remember any railed guns.

I can't tell what I like the best. The fine craftsmanship or the photo layout? Keeping the pistols side by side is really interesting. There's a lot to look at. Very nice.

Your attention to detail never ceases to amaze me along with your signature bevel work. Well done, the perfect pair for two great friends!

I am certain the "Good Job" goes with any further comment. Guys take a look at the rear of the slide and notice one can barely see the fact this has an internal extractor the part are so close in tolerance.

Excellent craftsmanship. A typical of a post on LTW.

Those would make anyone pistolero happy. Typical craftsmanship and attention to detail. Being able to hold that kind of quality from project to project is a credit to your work. Outstanding!

Don't mean to pile on, but those pistols look amazing. Do you happen to have a loaner program?

Remember in the opening of this thread when I said, "Spend any time with these fellows and you'll soon notice they take great delight (and rarely miss an opportunity) to take a good fun loving dig at each other. Make no mistake though - these two have each other's backs."

So I got an e-mail today from each of the 'Two Friends', who had taken a peek at this thread. These two e-mails got me laughing pretty hard and also pretty much validated the above quote.

I just can't resist sharing.....

From 'one of the friends':
Tim, hello. Nice intro - appreciate that! The only problem I had with it - was the fact that you said we had each other's back - not really - I have been plotting his demise for some time now.

Then this from the 'other friend' (who had no doubt been looking over friend #1's shoulder when the above was typed):
I am so worried. Even with Tim's gun, you couldn't hit me if I was two (expletive) feet in front of you with my back turned.

Man, I LOVE this business!!!

Now, all kidding aside, perhaps the 'Two Friends' wouldn't mind chiming in with a range report.........

I guess that one 'friend' would have to be me since the other 'friend' can't write (or shoot, even with a custom from Tim Brian!)

All I can say is the guns shoot as good as they look. This is my second 1911 from Tim. I am even more impressed with this one than I am with my first. They are exactly what we wanted in a fighting handgun - reliable, reliable, deadly accurate, and beautiful. Every aspect is flawlessly executed - great trigger, excellent sights, all the controls have that perfect 'feel' to them...the fit, finish and attention to detail is just stellar.

We had both guns at the range about 5 hours after the Fed Ex man came to our shop. We did not have a ton of time, so we ran about 300 hundred rounds apiece through each gun. There were no malfunctions or problems of any kind no matter what combination of ammo and magazines we used. (Except I had to keep telling ERG 'the copper part of the bullet faces forward...no .45ACP, not .25'...)
Ragged one hole groups were the norm thanks to the excellent trigger and sights. What else can I say, Tim built us both a great fighting handgun...whoever said lighting can't strike the same place twice never asked Tim to build a matching set of custom 1911's.

Tim, thanks again! They rock!

Regards,
WBI
aka Friend #1

Tim,

You've forced me to admit that a gun with a rail can look nice, real, real, nice.
