This is my latest "midnight oil" project. I thought I would take a few pictures before it goes home. This gun is for a first-time 1911 owner, and he entrusted me with this build. I won't bore you with all the specifics, but here's a partial list:

Caspian Frame and Slide, hand fit
Kart NM Barrel and Bushing
Yost-Bonitz Ignition with a Greider trigger
Fluted and Bordered Slide
25 LPI Handcheckering on the frontstrap and MSH
Heinie Magwell
Yost-Bonitz stocks, milled for the magwell
Cerakote finish: Graphite Black and Sniper Grey over a Manganese Phosphate base

Thanks for taking the time to look!

Best,
Dave

WOW is that beautiful, the finish really looks like it will stand up to some abuse. Very nice work. How does it shoot?

I held this gun this morning, and I have to say that the pictures far fall short of its actual appearance. This gun is tight. The slide runs on the frame rails as if it's on a perfect line of ball bearings. The groups Dave shot in testing it were unbelievable. The fit and finish of this piece are nothing short of phenomenal. Dave has a keen attention to detail, and it shows in his work. I like it. I like it a lot.

Very, very nice. That is one sharp looking Commander. Did you do all the machining yourself?

Great job!! Love the fluting! This is before you finished, right? My initials are supposed to be on the back left side of the slide.
Did we forget? LOL
Very well done!

Guys, thanks for all the kind words. The owner picked this one up Friday and his reaction made the late nights worth every minute. The gun shot pretty well for me, and I would guess that it would shoot better in capable hands.

Scot, the machining is done here. Except for the occasional welding and hard chrome, I typically don't farm anything out.

Thanks again, fellas!

Dave
