This just in, a pistol I've been eagerly waiting for. It started out as a Titanium frame ordered from Caspian and a blank slide. I wanted a Titanium frame since Caspian was not going to be producing them anymore. I had Bob do a build after seeing another set of Titanium pistols go through his shop.

List of options.

Kart Barrel and bushing,
Doug Koenig Hammer,
Cylinder and Slide sear and disconnector,
2 Ed Brown Extractors (one for spare that's fitted),
Grieder Trigger,
Miller Custom Mainspring Housing,
Ed Brown Grip Safety,
Ed Brown Ejector,
EGW Firing Pin Stop,
Miller Custom Front Sight,
Heinie Rear Sight,
Ed Brown Tactical Mag Release,
Ed Brown Tactical Thumb Safe,
Larry Davidson Half Hog grips.

Options include....
Bob Cuts his own Cocking Serrations,
Lightening cuts,
Checkered 25 LPI,
Magazine Well Beveled and Polished,
Finger Relief Under Trigger Guard
Ball Cuts on Slide,
Serrate Rear of Slide,
Lower and Flare Ejection Port with Live Round Extraction Cut,
Flat Top and Diamond Serrations,
Miller Custom's Staggered Borders.

Finish is Black T and Hard Chrome with Tripp Carbonized rails.

Here you go.....

Neat looking gun. I am curious why you elected to lighten the slide? That is usually done on a 9MM or a race gun but rarely on a carry gun.

While I can appreciate the obvios machine work, Why would anyone expose the extracor body, firing pin spring etc. to the elements/debris etc??

Nice looking gun with interesting slide cuts... do I notice that the serrations on the slide top are remarkably similar to what Ted Yost and Jason Burton have been doing? :?:

Function should never be undermined by cool, and in my mind the areas opened up in the slide are inviting deris into critical areas. I know for one, my 1911 gets filthy at times during the workday.

Again, im not knocking the workmanship, just wondering if there was an actual purpose of any kind behind the slide slots.

There is a purpose behind making the slide lighter. I don't know if it makes sense on a carry gun but you see that on plenty of guns used for steel or USPSA open guns with those cuts, and those guns get very dirty without any issues.

That is just a flat out cool looking gun. I kind of agree that for a tough use duty gun I wouldn't have gone with the lighting cuts but they sure look cool. I assume they are to drop a slight amount of weight off of the gun or change how it balances or even shoots. As long as it is protected during concealed carry and cleaned often it should be just fine. I know that my carry guns get a lot of lint all over them so that would have been a concern to me. Never the less, I am still jealous.

That work is yet another reason why I have one in the works with Bob! Very nice. I have not seen lightning cuts in a long time.

I dont think Ted and Jason have a patent on an arrow or pointy series of lines.

Actually I found something else :?: , The slide; with it being mounted on top of the frame in such a way that the dust cover lines up prefectly with the ball cut of the slide; theres shops that do that already. what a copier.

My sarcasm is off now, apologies!

What a great example of some great skill and some interesting design features.
I SO hope bob moves to Oklahoma when he's done at Bradley. He'll have someone here to sweep his floors.

Amazing looking gun. Any chance I could get a set of bigger pictures FordTough? I would love to use them as my desktop background.

Just like Pete R was saying about race guns with lightening cuts, Springfield Armory Custom shop makes one. Dist Steel Match 38 super.
Has some wild lightening cuts on it. Check it out on there web site.
You'll have to down load the custom catolog though.

WoW!

What a great looking gun.

The machine work is fantastic and well executed. I love the idea of a titanium frame and with the carbonized rails under "Black -T" I bet this thing runs like a champ!

Ford Tough – Congrats!

Bob – Well done. It is always good to see your work.

I must say that I an disappointed by Mr. Lameyknives comments as I have not seen such open disregard for someone’s elses likes or opinions before. Hey if FordTough likes lightening cuts then so be it. This is his gun and this is the way he wanted it. Even so, for concealed carry it should not make much of a difference any way. It is not like FordTough plans on strapping this to the outside of his combat boots in the "sand box". For crying out loud, he lives in Il and probably can not even carry this concealed. For all we know, he may have had it built like this for shooting in local matches.

It looks real nice and has some unique touches. The windows in the slide invite you to do a little "windowpeeking" at what's going on in there

I didn't think his question was presented in a disrespectful manner.

I would love to see a video of this firing, with a peek inside those windows! That gun sure stirs the imagination!

This gun isn't for carry in ILL we are lucky to even own them. The gun isn't going to get dirty with the lightning cuts, they are just part of the theme. No reason for why I had them done, sometimes you just have to follow an idea.

In case you didn't know, Bob is my son and I get to see alot of different ideas along with LTW forum. This is just one of my ideas. Haven't had a chance to get to the range yet, will get report asap and let you know she goes.

Well, "FordTough", then you have DOUBLE "bragging rights". You own a really slick firearm that you can be proud of PLUS you have a very talented son of whom you can and should be very proud.
I would say that makes it a clean sweep for you. Congratulations on both counts. Bob did a very nice job on the pistol and you obviously did a fine job raising him..........
Best regards,
Jeffro

That's a beautiful 1911. Bob's going to be building one for me in the near future, and photos like yours make me confident in my decision. I'm really looking forward to meeting Bob, and to showing my Miller Custom off.

That is as good a reason as any to have them on your gun. Now if I could only convince my 6 year old son that pistolsmithing is his future. Maybe Santa will bring him a mill and lathe. :D

Don't try to steal Bob from Illinois. His shop is a long enough drive for me already.

Nice work Bob. How you're able to build pistols and major in Mechanical Engineering at the same time truely impresses me. FWIW, Bob was great to deal with when building my 38 Super. I actually feel ashamed I haven't shot it very much since it's compleation.
