Here is a nice old school carry piece by Austin. Built on a S70 Combat Commander.

Barsto Barrel-Swenson safeties-Squared and checkered trigger guard- checkered front strap- reprofiled slide top which is flattopped and serrated-Behlert adjustable rear with red insert ramp front-hardchromed-and an extended slide stop that will be replaced ASAP. Behlert markings on the LH front of slide.

Neat. I always like looking at Behlerts.
I can't explain that, since often they have prominent features that I would not put on a gun (squared guards and extended mag release buttons, for example), but I always liked his work. I guess his guns remind me of the top custom jobs I saw pictures of "back when".

A Behlert will always take me back to my 1911 "wonder years" :)

What a nice piece. I believe Austin was the father of modern pistolmithing.
From what I gather he was a true gentleman. Would've been fun to watch him work.
