It's one of those deals where everything is at 95% but you have 20 things to do the last 5% on, and until you do the last 5% on the last one it's still not a gun.....BUT it all falls together quickly at the end. I think I will be putting the first shots through it Sunday or Monday. I really enjoy getting everything completely done before the final assembly and shooting-- that is, I don't care to put it together and "try" it, find out what still needs doing, go do it, and then try it again. I make it a game to get everything done right, put it together and shoot it for the first time and have it work 100%. That gives me a great feeling of confidence that I enjoy passing on to the customer: "it worked 100% from round one".
Guess what I'm saying is, the shooting of it is my reward. It's one of my favorite parts and I hold off on it until I really "deserve" it

. I do all the little "final touches" before shooting it, otherwise I'm cheating. After shooting, the only thing left is final adjustment to the sights by milling and moving sideways and then a reconfirmation of zero, and then refinishing. In this case, all five guns were spec'd to be left bare stainless, so no need to send it out and wait (hallelujah). Just buff half of it up to look like the bumper of a '62 Cadillac, jewel the rest, and presto
I will just say that this gun has a few surprises, even for the owner. This one started out kinda slow; but the last two weeks have been dedicated to it exclusively. That's not a last minute rush thing, that's just when the snowball got to where I was on the hill-- it ran me over and took me with it and my enthusiasm-mode switch got jammed on "super-high". I've been living in the shop and enjoying every minute of it!
We decided to do one thing a little different which presented a few opportunities for some features that are unique. Not wild and gaudy unique, I'm gonna say they are actually rather practical. Some fun exercises in machining with a little help from my friends in the wire EDM business.
Remember everyone that tomorrow is the last day to get tickets for LTW#4 over the net. After that sales are closed until we are at SHOT where we will sell the "live" Feb 2, 3, 4.
