Well to quote a Scottish philosopher "The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. I have truly taken on the role of silent partner at Heirloom Precision. If you worked with Ted and Jason every day you would realize that being silent has a literal meaning at the shop as well. HP is "the home of the wisecracking pistolsmith" and Heckel and Jeckel are normally right on cue. So sometimes it is just as entertaining to sit there and listen to these two magpies go at it. A typical day might start out with a question by Ted "Jimmy Page or Jimmy Hendrix?" It has been a ton of fun so far with these two.

As with any Shot Show the first day of the Shot Show is always like seeing off the Queen Mary, you sure hope she floats but at some point ya just gotta cut her loose and see what happens. For me it is a chance to see some of my closest friends and be around some of the finest people anywhere. Fortunately I did find some time to work on a few guns that will make the trip. Hope to see you there, especially Mark Downing I am not sure I would recognize him these days. :?

My apologies that was a shot of Ted and Jason. Now to some guns.

The first is a two tone Series 80 Colt. The roll marks were surface ground by Chuck Rogers. This gun was started some time ago and I finally got the thing together. This is similar to what I carry for work, reliable, sturdy, and fairly simple. The grips by VZ were prototypes that made it to the shop and they seem to work on this gun.

The second is a LW CCO style gun which is a little closer to what we typically do in the shop, in terms of style. I enjoy the smaller guns for their ability to conceal and with the aluminum frame you hardly now it's there. Especially in the Alessi rig. I know you can't really be a danger to anyone unless your gun is five inches and black but I think this one would at least scare somebody off. :P

Hand finished cocobolo stocks with some engraved grip screws.

The last one started out by sending Ned Christiansen a couple of frames a few years ago for a "frag" fronstrap and mainspring housing. If you look at this fronstrap and magwell you get the idea of what it is like to be Ned and waking up a 3:00 a.m. screaming "make it stop" Anyway, this had been sitting in the shop for a couple of years and I thought it would make an interesting Shot Show gun. Ted obviously felt sorry for me at some point and realized I was pressing to get this done, so he added some of his trademark work which produced a pretty kewl pistola.

Ted thought this might be a nice touch on the front of the reverse plug. He really is starting to get the hang of this. This is hard by hand.

That is all for now. Hope to see some familiar faces soon!

Finally... :P

We've all been burning the midnight oil as of late in the 'ol HP shop but seeing these pictures once again reminds me that it's all worth while. Building guns in our shop, no matter how simple the task, is never easy... but when it all comes together and the guns are all finished we are all reminded that hard work does indeed pay off.

Are we in Vegas yet Stevie?

Heirloom and Precision are understatements when viewing these beauties. Well done!

Hendrix, of course.....

What is there to say about the guns? All the guns on this forum are inspiring. These are no exception. Every day I look at the pages of this forum (I've followed it for a long time, in spite of my lack of prior posts), it drives me to learn more and better techniques and skills. One day, perhaps, someone will look at a pistol I've made with the same awe I feel when I visit this forum.

Mr. Bailey:
Those are beautiful work. The CCO gun, is it my imagination or angle of photography that made the frame looks like an officer size with a 5" slide? The last gun with Ned's machine work is so unique, I've never seen anything like it, and hope to see more.
Good luck at the show.

I love the frag treatment. I hadn't seen that one yet, but it sure is cool.

I can't wait to stop by your booth and see you guys - along with everybody else. You gentlemen are going to be swamped, all day, every day.

Take care,
Bob

I like 'em all, but I agree with Mr Miller on the Frag treatment. I had never even pictured such a thing, but I like it. Neat recoil spring plug, too.

ek,
Why no roll marks? On the two tone, the factory Colt roll marks were quite up to spec, so I decided to have them removed. Plus I like the look of a clean slide, especially on a two tone. On the CCO gun I used a Caspian slide in order to get a better frame to slide fit. The lower on that gun is aluminum and you are limited on tightening when using aluminum. The Caspian slide produced a very nice fit.
