After I got a call from Dave W. at the Springfield Custom Shop where I was told my name came up a few times in conversation on smiths to build a prize gun for the Single Stack Classic, I followed up a phone call to Richard Heinie about doing a build. This is what I came up with.

It sports a Springfield gunsmith kit pistol with all the parts set aside and replaced with parts like an S&A grip safe, EGW slide stop, Barsto barrel (donated by Barsto), Heinie sights (donated by Heinie), Grieder trigger, Berryhill ignition componants, Nowlin pin set, 25 LPI checkering with a finger relief, and of course - a flawless application of Melonite from Drakes Gun Works.

Oh, and can I get an Amen on VZ Grips??

Enjoy...

Not bad, someone will be happy. I like the melonite finish but I’m not much for the treatment on the slide flats but that seems to be your thing. Should be a good match and I look forward to seeing all the prize guns.

As I recall the guns from the previous years have been really amazing particularly the pistol Ted Yost build a few years back.

Nice Job Bob. I really like everything you did..........except the borders. Just not my thing, but then you know how picky I am with 1911's.

Bob,
I was really impressed with your machine work on this one. I like the ball cuts on the slide. The winner should be very happy with it. Nice job.

Bob,
NICE ! Great work all the way around, there is lots to admire with this pistol. Someone will walk away from the SSC very lucky indeed.

Dave, I usually skulk away from the SSC......

Looks real nice, Bob. I think there's gonna be a nice crop of prize guns this year. I hope they put them out on display during the match, which I have not seen them do much of in the past.

Very nice indeed. Love the lightening grooves, plug, and the serrated flat top..nice pattern to it.

Should make someone very happy!
