Thinking about having a MEU(SOC) 1911 replica built. Dave Berryhill is no longer taking on new work. Dave Sams has a MEU (SOC) on his web site. Has anyone had any guns built up by Mr. Sams? I've heard of him before but don't know much about him or his work. Thanks for any input....

C.Rod, thanks for the info and the links. I decided to have Dave Sams is build my MEU(SOC).
I have a Caspian frame and I have a Caspian slide on order. I have most of the other parts for the build stashed away in my closet. I'll be sure to post pics after it's finished. Thanks again...

45er,

I've had quite a few guns built over the last ten years, and now that I've gotten a good feel for things like what I like, what I need and don't need, and what true high quality fitting really is, Dave is my only go-to guy. He's one of the best there is. I'd say he's built me about 15 or so 1911s in various calibers/configurations now, three rifles, and a slew of revolvers.

FWIW, Dave is one of the only civilians in the country who has an actual MEUSOC 1911 Manual. I know, I have a copy.

That's a few of them. If'n ya need more or have any questions, drop me a line.

Well...I dont have the experience with Dave that our buddy Jim does, but on my Colt Agent build that Dave recently did for me...I COULDN'T BE HAPPIer..both with the end result and the service that I got. I have also been fortunate enough to have handled and fired several of Dave's builds that were done for Witherspoon and they were nothing short of amazing!! You won't be sorry!-John

Just brutal, Jim.

You'll have to give us fair-warning before you lob another volley like that. I think that I am going to take Dave up on the custom grips. BBQ season is on the way. :) They do dress up a pistol nicely.

WARNING:

Another volley coming soon. I have more pics of some others he did for me in the past. Some I have, others have moved on. I get random notes from the owners on occasion saying how much they like 'em and how well they're holding up. Always a good sign.

Here are a few that got away. The Springfield is now in the hands of a good friend. Of all the guns Dave ever built for me, that one is likely my favorite. There is just something about it... but it is certainly in good hands now.

Unlike some genius on pistolsmith said, this is NOT a photoshop job. This is the color of the blackened stainless on the Razorback. It is the alloy, not the process.

...and even a Para/Caspian 10mm (It's heavy, as the pic indicates)

Don't forget that he also builds the best Berettas in the world... with the records to prove it.

But, you had asked about the MEU gun. So, instead of guessing, he uses this:

Thanks for looking, and I'm sorry to have hijacked your thread.

Jim, thanks for the pics and inspiration! My Caspian frame should be on it's way to my FFL holder. I also have a Caspian slide on order. I can't wait to get my parts to Mr. Sams and have him build my pistol. After seeing those Beretta pistols you posted, I'm considering sending him one of those too! I already started woorking overtime to pay for it all....
