This is one I just finished up and thought I would share it with you.

This build is on a Rock River Arms frame and a Caspian slide. It sports a Kart Barrel and bushing, 30 LPI Checkering, Heinie rear sight, Tritium inserts front and rear, and a 30 LPI checkered Chen Mainspring housing. It has Ed Brown thumb safety, grip safety, and mag catch. Cylinder and Slide ignition components and a Grieder trigger.

The slide was treated with standard flat topping and serrations with flutes on both sides. The Grips are from non other than Esmeralda, which I think adds a nice touch to the High Polished Blue finish.

Forgive me for the quality of the pictures, the camera wanted to focus on the reflection in the finish, not the pistol itself.

Stunning, you could use that as a mirror. Don't think I have ever seen a finish that bright.

Neat work but just far too polished for my tastes, still nicely done overall.

Who did the polish job for you? Was it done on a buffing wheel?

Now thats a polish job! Question though, why the mix and match on the frame/slide. Why not just get both from RRA?

Ummm, me. I do my own metal prep before sending it out for blueing. That was me, a flat granite plate, some 800 then 1000 then 1500 grit paper, and some white 555 on a hard soft felt wheel and my good ol' Baldor.

PM sent, but to answer your question partly, I really like the Caspian slide. They have served me very well in the past and fit very well on the RRA platform.

Take care,
Bob

Great polish job! When you were finished, which burned more, fingers, elbows or shoulders? When you spend that much time over a slab is when you put the most of yourself into your work. On this pistol, IMHO, there is a good balance between machine and hand work and a good selection of all parts. This is the kind of job that builds your business. Your customer will be very proud to show his weapon and rightfully so.
Now, soak your hands in some real warm water, rub on some Ben Gay, drink a cup of coffee, and get started on your next masterpiece!! Great Job!!

Oh, I think my head hurt the most when I was done. I had this pistol along with another high polish job to do with a few other regular 400 grit coloring jobs to prep for bluing.

Now, some of you know bp1911, the owner this pistol. He isn't going to set this puppy in the safe and pull it out to look at it. It is destined for a holster.

Thank you all for the comments and the support. I'm really looking forward to the next ones in my shop. I'm sure the customers that are waiting are equally eager to get their pistols back.

Take care,
Bob

Ha...imagine that the gun even shoots as good as it looks (no not really a surprise)! I've had a few nice blued guns and it always made me cringe a bit to think about putting it in a holster and using it the way it was intended too.....I commend the owner on that one. In the world of wonder finishes its nice to see a good ole blued gun too.

Thanks for the PM by the way Bob!
