The Retro thing just keeps on going and this one’s on its way back to Washington...
This was the first of two guns I had the pleasure of building for a 1911 enthusiast in the Pacific North
wet. For both projects he had a special vision and allowed me to take the wheel and drive the project to the end results. This gun was to be a classic with Retro style and flair but all of the modern techniques and technology that would fit the scope of the project... a full house gun with old school styling.
The first thing to do was a welded frame and slide fit, next came a new lead delivery system by way of the Kart barrel and EGW bushing, all of which was of course augmented with new internals such as an EGW firing pin stop, Wilson extractor and ejector, hammer, sear, and disconnect, etc. The front strap was hand checkered, a Brown thumb safety was fit, the mag-well beveled, and all frame and slide lines were straightened but the key Retro
feel for the gun comes by way of the custom abbreviated grip safety, ramped front sight, and Yost Retro rear. Of course there may be no better Retro finish than a high polished blue slide atop a matte hard chromed frame and toss in an ol’ box of Super Vel ammo, a Devel mag, and some well worn Davis leather and it’s like taking a step back in time.

Enjoy...
