Here’s one that recently made the trip back across the border into California.
This particular Signature Grade was the vision of a great guy and patient customer. He new what he wanted and needed and had a new Series 80 Colt Government Model set aside just for the task. A Signature Grade of standard fare (if there is such as thing

) was right in line with his desires... something with hand-cut 40pli checkering front and rear, Wilson beavertail, extended thumb safety, best quality internals throughout, detailed line straightening, serrated rear of slide, round-butt conversion, desert Ironwood stocks, nitre blued pins and screws, and of course all the other Signature Yost touches.
However, when it came to the sights the customer requested something that would stand out a bit better for his eyes, he opted to have the front sight fit with a fiber optic insert as opposed to our standard gold line... and here’s where the wheels started turning. Knowing that the customer wanted the front sight as visible as possible Ted sought out to give the fiber optic rod as much light gathering ability as it could have. Using a piece of stainless steel rod he made a housing that he polished bright and set into the front sight blade. The fiber optic rod was then inserted into the brightly polished housing with the idea being for the polished stainless steel tube to help reflect light back into the fiber optic rod... pretty cool, especially considering how well it works.
Perfection is something we
strive for every day in the shop... and while it may never really come to be we’re more than satisfied with exceeding the customers expectations. Enjoy the pictures!
