Okay guys, I've been MIA for a while. I've been really busy with some special projects. Here is one for Ned and Jason to drool over  Eat your hearts out boys!

I just finished writing up the 22Sparrow suppressor from Silencerco. As a host, I used a Ruger MKIII lower with a Tactical Solutions Pac Lite upper. The Pac Lite had the optional rails for an optic and a light. The optic is an Aimpoint Micro H-1 red dot that is the "heat." The light is an older X200 since my X300 stays on my 1911 house gun. The 22Sparrow is a very effective suppressor but what makes it special is that the user can service it. While this alone is not unique, it is the clam shell sleeves that fit around the baffles that makes the 22Sparrow so cool. The sleeves protect all the carbon and crude from coming into contact with the outer tube which is the serial numbered part and controlled by ATF.

The other night, we had an intruder that was attempted to do serious property damage to my yard and my wife's flowers. As any good husband would do, I found my self defending the homestead with my son. The results are obvious. The neighbors were totally unaware and the suspect never heard or saw it coming.

Enjoy the pics:

This photo shows the outer tube, the protective two piece liner, and the baffle core. The construction is top rate.

The victim never stood a chance

That's a pretty hot looking can.

Ned,

I can't come close to telling you how much fun this rig is. Paper targets or other targets of opportunity just don't stand a chance. Everyone should own a .22 can. The Pac Lite upper combined with the Aimpoint H-1 is deadly. I may love 1911's but I can still afford to shoot .22.

Regards,

Rob

Rob,

Do you have any experience with other suppressors? I'd like to hear how you think this Sparrow compares to others.

Thanks.

I have shot a lot of cans over the years. I have the most experience with the 22Sparrow and the AAC Aviator. The Aviator is a very well designed and built can but it is sealed. In shooting the 22Sparrow and the Aviator side by side, same ammo, same type pistol, a Walther P-22, the overall noise level was equal to the ear. The "tone" of each was slightly different but one was not significantly better than the other. The deciding factor is the 22Sparrow is user serviceable and will never fill up with junk.

Try one, you will like it!

That is beautiful. Poor little fella learned his lesson from the looks of it.

Hey guys,

Check out the Silencerco web site. They have a new .45 can called the Osprey. It is a box design that lets you use the standard pistol sights. Way cool.

Rob

Rob, I looked at the Osprey and noticed they used the HK USP Tactical. That gun already has taller sights for use with a can. It would seem that a standard height 1911 sight would come up short. Have you actually had one mounted to a 1911 and how did it fair?
