I received this beauty today. It is a Ron Phillips Browning Hi Power, made on a 1974 C series. From my limited range session today amid downpours, it was laser-like accurate. It definitely lets me know when I fail to uphold my end of the deal. Of course, it was absolutely reliable.

This is the build specs:

Novak sights (black rear, trit. front)
Crown factory Bbl.
Modify factory hammer
Trigger work / spring kit
Polish extractor
Carry bevel
Bevel mag well
Polish ramp and throat Bbl.
Radius trigger face
Remove mag disconnect
Tighten slide to frame
Stipple frontstrap (new style)
Stipple backstrap (new style)
Metaloy frame assy.
Black Tacti-Kote slide assy.
Spegal Coco Bolo grips

I really like the two tone hi powers. The stippling looks like one of the best examples I have seen and the builders roll mark on the dust cover is very stylish in of itself. Sweet pistol.

I've gotta admit... Hi Powers have rapidly become one of my favorite handguns. And to think that an old friend of mine (who recently passed) tried for years to convince me that I would like them..... It took a visit to Theo to see one in progress before I was convinced. Now I have three, and I love them all.

It nice to be able to compare Ron Phillips two tone and the Yost hard chrome thread and see both artist vision of a High Power. On the Ron Phillips the stippling and figure chosen in the wood stand out for me. Not just the style of stippling but the borders are extremely well done.

Some may not realize it, but Ron Phillips has his own shop now. He is formerly of Wilson Combat and Nighthawk Custom.

Looking at his website without packages a full build looks quite expensive.

The more I look at this HP the more I like it. The Stipple is extremely well done. The finish is nice and even, the book matched grips grain flow well. It is very elegant.

I have searched the web for Ron Phillips HI Power examples in the past and only came up with the DVD’s he produces.

I did find an Armand Swenson HI Power example on another forum I don’t how rare that is. I thought he only did 1911A1's.

Here is the enclosed test target. It measures .52" center to center. It says 15 yards, but I believe Ron told me 20 yards. Still ..........

I have a Ron Phillips Hi Power that I will try to post a picture of later. He did an engraved (J.R. French) Commander for me (first gun on his slide show) that was so clean and a shooter to boot that I now have him building a Bullseye gun for me on a 60's Colt frame. It was his work on the hi-Power that brought me knocking on his door. It really feels good to have a pistol smith I can feel good about...Nice picture of the two tone! Love it and the Spiegal grips!!!
