Nothing wrong at all. The gun / holster set has been at NSWF for months, and we just don't have that many additional photos to post here at LTW. This year's beneficiary group is a different situation for us than years past. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation is well established and organized, and they have an efficient mechanism for their fundraising efforts. In past years, organizations we worked with needed a lot of our help to promote their fundraising efforts, for a variety of reasons. It was a huge burden, and past LTW project managers can attest to the drain on their livelihoods and family lives. In some cases, we supplied nearly all the promotional and fundraising effort in addition to the material asistance. Naval Special Warfare Foundation conducts many large fundraising events throughout the year and has an extensive email and mail network. They have done a fantastic job this year and are on track eclipse our previous efforts.

It's a refreshing change for us to be able to concentrate on more of the behind-the-scenes LTW operations that will let us do even more in the coming year.

Of course we still want the LTW community to participate. The gun and leather are simply an awesome combination that really show off the unique talents of the makers. The point of contact for ticket sales is:

That's for the update Ted. I can imagine it's a relief to not have to "Put on the show" too. Been there, still do that :)
Can't make it to SHOT this year but I will get in touch with Laura for my raffle tickets.
Thanks to all the LTW smiths that put in your time & wonderful efforts into these guns (& packages) to help others.
Merry Christmas!

That is a very nice looking 1911. As a combat wounded veteran of the Navy SEAL Teams, I am honored that you good people here would produce this great piece of work and donate so much time and effort to honor my community with your charity effort this year.

I'm hesitant to post the rest of what's on my mind for fear of being perceived as throwing a wet blanket on this year’s raffle. That is not my intention. I'm sure this effort is well under way and I certainly do not wish to derail it. This raffle will probably draw more attention to NSWF, and many people may be compelled to donate to the NSWF outside of the LTW raffle. Because of this, my conscience compels me to recommend that future donors compare the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (www.specialops.org) to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation (www.nswfoundation.org) through such sites as www.charitynavigator.org to assess the amount of benefits that reach SEAL/SOF personnel and their families compared to the dollars taken in. SOWF is a bit more transparent about their distribution of donations than the NSWF.

Respectfully,
Frogman

Frogman,

Thanks for your insight, and for your service to us all. Your sacrifice is appreciated here.

No wet blanket here - the raffle is going well, and the pistol package is a great prize. We're really pleased to be working with the NSWF this year, and they're doing a great job. It's nice to finally work with an organization that is able to take the initiative and promote it's own fundraising effortson a large scale. Of course there are costs to administer any charity, and the efficiency of the organization is important to us all, but unfortunately it's not easy to find charities that will work with donations of firearms. It's even harder to find a group with the resources to do the job justice. We actually approached the SOWF group three years ago, but were unable to generate any interest from them at all. Perhaps at that point our track record was not so well established. If you have a contact there that may be interested, we'd be grateful for an introduction.

Frogman - Ted beat me to this but just to echo his thoughts... During the LTW #2 raffle we approached the SOWF about being our beneficiary but could never get them to come to the table and be a part of what we do. A couple of us on the LTW BOD tried repeatedly to speak with representatives of the SOWF but never heard from anyone interested in working with us.

I’m sure the SOWF is a good organization, it seems though that we never even got the chance to work with them.

Ted and Jason,

Thanks for those bits of info regarding SOWF and NSWF. You all are very welcome for my service/ sacrifice. Protecting America and Americans is an honor. My wife and I have history with both of these organizations. We'll be at SHOT and we'll definately stop by your booth and pass our contacts with SOWF on to you. Between now and then we'll grease the skids with them in order to facilitate any future endeavor you may be interested in with them.

V/r,
Frogman
