Hey all I just got my work gun back from Chuck after a bit of "damage" happened. Here are some before and after pics and the finished product. The damage happened when my Surefire 610R snapped off of my gun during a course of fire at the range. The break occurred both on the slide stop (snapped it in half internally at the barrel lug) and the lights body arm. I miraculously was able to finish the shoot course. I shudder what would have happened during a real gun fight! The build is as follows:

Note: Chuck did not install the beaver tail, sights or cut the original forward cocking serrations, but his previous work does include a reliability package and trigger job and contoured ambi safety.

*High cut and golfball frontstrap.
*Brown's SS mainspring housing. Golfballed.
*Machine new mainspring housing to accept existing magwell. Add
two pins for better alignment.
*Blend heel of mainspring housing to match frame with magwell removed.
Open up and internally blend magwell to frame. Provides good magwell bevel
without magwell attached.
*Weld and rework bushing lug to minimize gap to slide face. Blend bushing to slide.
Large bevel at end of bushing.
*Machine large countersink in bushing face. Shorten and match crown barrel to
blend with bushing cut.
*'Ball' cuts.
*Remachine front cocking serrations. Add 4 lines to the rear, each side.
*Install Dawson rail.
*Wilson 'Bulletproof' slide stop. Fitted.
*Flush cut and radius end of slide stop pin. Chamfer frame hole.
*Repair ovaled slide stop pin hole. Fabricate and install hardened bushing.
*Repair large set screw crater in triggerguard.
*Fit grips. Epoxy fill and remachine retention leg cut. Create clearance for ambi safety paddles.

I love Chuck's Golfballs. Now checkering just doesn't feel good to me. Glad you got your pistol back and you're enjoying it.

They look like some of Larry Davidson's grips to me, but I wouldn't beet my last dollar on it.

Nice pistola, too!

Sometime, somewhere there must have been a 1911 that had been run over by an M1 Abrams tank. I really wanna see it go to Chuck for "tune-up", with mandatory before and after pics.

Beautiful pistol and great work, as usual.

Yes they are the Gunner Grip in black, they came in a grayish tone due to beadblasting, a little oiling darkens them up.
