I was very much into custom high end 1911's many years ago. Had pieces from Mr. Novak, Mr. Tibbets and Mr. Yost. With sincere regret, I had to sell them. Found this site and have the bug again. I had not heard of Mr. Chen before finding this site. The pics of his full size Gov't Mdl. in the photo section are breath taking (no slight to the other smiths). However, that gun made my jaw drop. Was hoping others could post pics of his work. Is it true, there is a 7+ year wait for one of his guns?

Thanks,
Nick-

Nick-

I am pretty sure most/ all the smiths here at LTW have waiting lists.... how long they are you'll have to ask them. Stan does not have a huge showing on the net, rest assured his guns are nicer in the hand than you can imagine. Details insisde the gun are as closely watched as outside. The few I have handled are true works of art (same can be said for all the LTW builders).
Stan is with out a doubt the most detail oriented guy I have ever known..and I mean that in the BEST way. His work is on my short list of gunbuilders to own. Artwork that goes BANG..very cool.

Best
Mark

Mark,
Thanks for the insight. I understand about the waiting lists of these smiths. I've owned guns from many of the best. I just was not familiar with Chen. I realize some are not even taking orders/work at this time (Both Chen and Rogers web sites indicate they are not taking work). I was just looking for some more examples of Chen's work as I really appreciated what I was able to find. I have no doubt he can build an awesome gun, just looking for some more eye candy.
Best,
Nick-

If I had the budget and the list was open Stan would be at the very top of my list to have a gun built by someone else, the details are what I find important and Stan doesn't seem to miss any...

He is one of the few smiths left I still MUST have in my collection!

Rogers, Chen and even though I have a Rohrbaugh by Ned Christensen I need a 1911 from him!

Harrison of course is in there but I am on his list and surely there are others I dont have but just cant think of and want.

I "think" I'm still on the list with Stan from Shot Show 05, just haven't bothered him and am waiting for a call someday. :(
Am absolutely awed by the details in his work.
