And I really mean classic... :)

Image

I suppose “classic” can mean different things to different people but when it comes to 1911s there is certainly no disputing the classic-ness of a 1943 USGI Colt. The gun featured here is one Ted built for this past SHOT Show and what better way than a Signature Grade conversion complete with Elephant ivory stocks and nitre blued pins and screws to show how a classic can become even more classic.

Although it causes many a 1911 collector to suffer from a condition we call the “undies-in-a-bunch syndrome” in our eyes this classic example of a USGI Colt was just another great starting point for a full-house build. Much like the other roughly 550,000 USGI guns that were made in 1943 this gun yearned to live up to its true potential. After all, with great looking roll-marks such as these and the well earned “United States Property” marking it would have been too much of a crime to let this gun sit under a parkerized finish any longer.

Enjoy the pictures!

Absolutely beautiful Jason! With the ivory grips and the blue pins/screws they are a perfect match. Well done once again.

I may be big, old, and slow, but so are the ball rounds in my 1911.
