Every 1911 done by Bob Chow was a bullseye gun. Few years ago I got His five inch Commercial Colt, with a lot of work done on it. But its set-up like a carry pistol. And looks like it was never carried. To Your knowlege, are the many others like it? Did Chow make many full size, fully accurized pistol that were not BE guns?

Thank You .

There is a Super 38 on GB now listed as a Chow carry gun. no visible modifications other than stippling. Every other Chow I have seen was a bullseye gun. I have owned 3, all BE guns. All I have owned were marked head to toe. Barrel, bushing, inside slide etc.

I saw that one on GB. Mine is intersting. Colt Commercial 1969. Marked FA ( Fully Accurized under the slide + 71 for year ) . Stippling, Bomar sights with short blade and ramp form sight, amb Colt safety, Trigger is NOT light. The gun os supper sccurate and feeds everything. Came with 3 Kings magazines. Also , the seller told me that it came with another matching slide and barrel. Fitted to the gun. He sold it on Ebay..... Few years ago... I have been looking for it for a while now.

So its like an accurized carry pistol with adjustable sights.

One of my biggest regrets in 1911dom is not going up to meet Mr. Chow in "the City".

I lived less than an hour away for almost 20 years and was a 1911 nut the whole time. I even have a great aunt that lives nearby to where his shop was, but somehow never made it over. I've become even more intrigued, as at the last SHOT show I met and chatted at length with a great guy who used to be friends with him. He told me stories of Bob's gun work, shooting matches with him at the Presidio range, then the gang going out for noodles afterwards...it was apparently tradition. I was saddened when I read of his passing in the Rifleman several years back. A real pioneer, great shooter, and sounds like he was a heck of a guy. I'd love to handle one of his pistols someday... Enjoy yours!
