This is a Dane Burns "Best Grade" pistol that he built for a defense contractor back in 2001. It has Barsto Barrels for 9x23 and 38 super. It feels great in the hand, and shoots very accurately. He did a great job with the front strap treatment. The lower is hard chromed. Upper is blued by Turnbull. Pictures do not do it justice.

Don't see a lot of Burns guns anymore. Very classy looking gun, and the 9x23 is a bonus as well.

I contacted him last year about a build, and as far as I know he's still working and building guns.

This Burns Colt is gorgeous!

I've read (in various sketchy locations) that one may safely continue to use factory-pressure .38 Super ammo in a .38S 1911 that has been rechambered to 9x23.

Anyone with experience care to weigh-in on this?

I believe he was in a serious bicycle accident not too long ago. Didn't know he was still building.

Its hard on brass for reloading, but yes. The inverse is NOT safe.

OP, nice gun BTW
