Decided to make a simple 9mm Commander from a man who's been under the radar lately. His name is Jim Garthwaite...maybe you've heard of him?

Always heard of his reputation for work horse guns so decided to send out this old Colt Commander. He was absolutely GREAT to work with. He spent the time to ask me what I'd be using it for and what I wanted. I was torn on 30lpi checkering or serrations, so he recommended 30 lpi serrations so he can do the cross part later if I decided to checker in the future. Feels great. Super patient on the phone and just seemed to be a great guy. I can not recommend him more highly. I told him about this site so if you have a gun around and want to send it to him, tell him LTW forum sent him the biz! 8)

Sorry for the sucky quick snapshots!

Hmmm...... That 9mm looks familiar..... very nice. Just to fill in the gaps. Hoser had me pick this gun up for him. Everything was original except the sights. The front sight wiggled like Elvis but otherwise the gun was in very nice shape. Included the original box and papers. I am lucky enough to own a Yost 9mm Commander or I might have to arm wrestle Hoser for his new blaster.......

Nice clean Rollmarks on the slide.
I have a LW Commander that I have been saving for a project and this gives me a few ideas, thanks for sharing,
Mike.

Mr Garthwaite does absolutely fantastic work. My wife had her 1911 built by him. He's a pleasure to talk with on the phone and if you get to meet him in person, he's an even nicer fellow. He's definitely a top shelf smith who's work is nothing short of very functional art.

Great looking blaster! The only thing I would change is the recoil spring plug. I'd get one that lines up with the front of the thicker bushing. I think EGW can supply these.

A minor quibble, but when a pistol is so darn pretty, a new plug would be well worth the minor expense and trouble.
