I dont know which is nicer the Commander or the photographers skill. Excellent pistol and excellent pictures, the pistol I am sure will perform as well as it looks.

Wow, stunning pistol. I love the classic look of a two-tone 1911. The fit and finish is amazing!

Thanks for the compliments. I truly enjoyed photographing this pistol. All that's left to do is to take it to the range and shoot the bejeezus out of it.

Very elegant. A truely beautiful pistol. I really like the photo showing a rear quarter view with the front and rear sights. Really gives you an idea of how effective and fast the gold line front would be.

I agree. Nice pistol and nice photography skills. Did you use studio lights?

Raymond ... thank you and yes, I did use studio light(s). I have been shooting commercial, product and architectural photography for almost 30 years so it's kind of cheating ... but not really.

Fantastic! Just goes to show what experience as a pistolsmith and photographer can do. Wonderful craftsmanship all the way around.

That they are, but I did not believe what they did could be adequately portrayed in photography, but you have really done them justice with these pictures; great job.

The more I visit this thread, the more I think my next build will be a 2-tone commander like this. Just beautiful!

Robert, I have to agree with you on that. Until I had this exact pistol in my hands, I could not truly appreciate the quality and craftsmanship the Heirloom guys put into it, as well as every pistol they make. It's a remarkable piece of work. Shades, two tones are groovy. It's my first one and I dig the look. But remember, the only way your next build can look this good, is to have Heirloom build it for you. Oh, and thanks for the compliments on my photography. I guess the last 28 years in the business weren't a total waste of time. Ha!

Hard to argue with you there. Seems like every time I handle one of my "heirlooms" I appreciate them a little more and am unable to keep a little smile from appearing. Once again, great photography. I have tried to capture the surrealistic chrome job on my Delta Elite, but could never do it justice; you on the other hand...I have a circa '70s commander I was thinking of sending to heirloom for a signature blue treatment, and until I saw yours I would not have considered a two-tone. But now I must admit am having second thoughts.

Second most beautiful Yost gun I have seen...

Sorry the first is my Sig Grade Ted Yost LW CCO ;)

But if the roles were reversed Id be saying yours was the most beautiful!

I know what you mean Robert ... HP's are true works of art. And the 2 tones are as bad a** as they come.

J Yagoda ... I'm going to have to disagree and put your HP second.

"Finally" got to hit the range with the new HP commander. Ran 150 flawless rounds through it. It really does shoot like a "lazer". It got quite mucked up by the end of the session but, never missed a beat. the groups were nice and tight at all ranges out to 20 yards off hand. Well done HP crew. The Commander is awesome.

I will be reloading the photographs on this thread soon. I was in the process of removing them from another website that is dedicated to "only one gunsmith" and didn't realize they were connected to this thread. Thanks for your patience.

My apologies for it taking so long to repost the photographs of this beautiful work of art.
