I,m getting tired of the skate tape on my colt. cco. been practicing with the files and it's time, but--- the front strap already appears thin . anybody have news on the cco? don't have a caliper. will try to add pic.

It needs to be measured in several places as 1911 front straps are not all uniform in thickness. A dial caliper won't give you accurate measurements. Find someone with a deep throat micrometer and a ball tip accessory attachment. You can measure accurately top to bottom and around the radius to find any thin spots.
