I recently acquired this Cylinder & Slide lightweight Hi-Power.
The frame is a lightweight alloy, barrel is a little over four inches.

Wow that's sweet. I didn't know they made a light weight HP. Is it full size or the det. Model?

The lightweights were made for police use in Europe, and my understanding is that the result was making an already kinda light-duty pistol into a real "carry a lot and hardly ever shoot" piece.

I got one from Bill many years ago, when he managed to pry a bunch out of a police department across the water. Apparently it wasn't easy, as the PDs over there found that if they didn't just trade in the old ones for new guns, (to the central government department) they had to do all the paperwork of exporting, themselves. Few wanted to do it, but Bill found at least one.

That looks like one of Bill's slide-shortening jobs.
