Sometimes you do something special for your pals and this is just such an example.
A pal, amigo, fellow shooting enthusiast, and supremely talented holster maker friend of mine found himself the owner of a Springfield EMP 4 9mm. The EMP size/configuration is something unique guns to Springfield Armory and I’ve found them to be pretty decent right out of the box. Never one to turn down a challenge, he somehow convinced me to tune this one up a bit for him.
While this was never destined to be a full-house conversion from my bench, I was given carte blanche to do as I see fit in order to tune the gun up for concealed carry duties. The only request from the owner was no matter what I do make the slide black. The existing front strap treatment and remaining thickness precluded me from doing anything in that area and since the frame is aluminum I figured I would leave the existing anodizing intact and focus on other areas of improvement.
So here’s a short photo review of this
one and only to be from me project.
A couple of stock photos to show how it started…

Blending in an EGW mag-well….

A fresh barrel crown and trimming the slide stop pin a bit…

A bit of feed ramp work…

Ready to shoot and zero pre-painted finish…

The finished product….
