Ok ok... it's true enough that the Hi-Power did proceed the 9mm 1911 by just a few years. :P While I’m not nearly as in love with them as I am the 1911, this was a fun project that I was happy to do for a long time (and very patient) client.

For the most part this gun was built to the client spec’s and desire to have a good Hi-Power that is very shootable and nice to carry. Some additional modifications and input from me to allow for trigger improvements, round out the usability, and keep the gun looking classic.

The Hi-Power may not be my first love but it was fun to dive back into. Expect more to come.

I love the thumb safety. That is one of the sore spots (literally) for me on P-35 builds. Most safeties are not anywhere near the ergonomics of the 1911.

Indeed... the Hi-Power has all kinds of hurdles on the way to making a thumb safety not only useable but also good feeling. I still like doing these when the mood strikes me but each one reminds me how much better the 1911 is when it comes to actually shooting the gun. Even still, the classic appeal of the Hi-Power makes thee fun to work on.
