Chuck, please tell us what you did to your knife. That is awesome. I bet I could get at least 20 people who would want you to do a similar mod to their Strider knives....as if you dont have enough work already.

Thought you swore off titanium

That's what is great about you, Chuck; always expanding your horizons. Great looking cutter.

All I did was the 'golfball' texturing to the Ti scales.
The knife in original form, had one Ti scale and one G10 scale.
The customer had the other Ti scale custom made. He is not at home
currently and was unable to provide further info.

I believe the scales to be 6Al4V Ti alloy. Compared to Caspian's
'as cast' commercially pure Ti, the 6Al4V is a delight to work with.

Tony,
Outdoors is best, but inside try:
Tungsten light from two sources.
Prop or suspend the subject away from the background material.
Use the 'tungsten' mode if you have one.
Use the smallest aperture possible.
ALWAYS use a tripod.
Take LOTS of pics......

Chuck, Chuck, Chuck... You might soon regret posting these photos! I'm sure I'm not the only person who is thinking "Hmmmmmmm..... purchase some Ti, box up ALL of my Benchmade blades and ship them off to Chuck....." That blade looks FANTASTIC! :) Where on earth do you find the time?!

I know that's what I was thinking!

Chuck, will the treatment work on the G-10 scales or is it too soft for that? What about other non-mettalic compounds?

Chuck that looks just incredibly COOL! 8)

Love how you matched the underlying curves with the golfball pattern.

Unblasted, it looks 'Irridescent' due to the way the light plays off the dimples. Very exotic. :D

Hey fellas...

Just wanted to credit Matt Cucchiara, custom knife maker, for producing the Ti slabs shown here. Matt, reproduced the G-10 side in Ti for me as well as improving the lock up of the blade. The lock up is as good as I've ever seen on a Stider..or any knife for that matter.

Chuck then stepped in to do the "golf balling". His work speaks for itself as you can plainly see! Both Matt and Chuck were a pleasure to deal with. I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck in person recently. I hope to be able to shake Matt's hand one day as well...

Thanks for your positive comments!

You guys already know how to reach Chuck. Here is Matt's website:

That is beautiful work! A category devoted to custom knives would make an interesting addition to this already museum-like site.

Fine knives and fine guns are, in key ways, birds of a feather.

You know that's an excellent idea, especially since Larry Davidson is a member now!
