I’m happy to have known and to know builders whose work I own or admire. Probably one of the nicest “side effects” has been the knowledge I’ve gained via conversations with cutting edge ‘smiths and being able to pour over their works.

It’s also nice to have friends who trust me to grind, pound, and file away on their guns and the gun pictured here is just such an occasion.

With the exception of the front strap serrations (which were done by my pals at Yo-Bo) and the funky Colt factory sight cuts this is a gun I recently finished grinding, filing, and banging on. Go easy I’m just an amateur.

Very nice, Jason! My eyes are consistently drawn to the tastefully undercut triggerguard, the gentle dehorn, and of course, the unused holster! C'mon, man, at least get "fuzzyboots" to don the holster, it just isn't fair.

Seriously though, you have done well, and I hope you'll continue down this path.

Jason, Very nice job. Believe me when I tell you I've seen guns done by "professionals" that don't look near as nice. Best,

A question: I noticed that your de-horning created several little triangular corners. Was that an intentional effect?

I have been lucky enough to handle and this pistol and look at it with a critical eye. Jason is slow, deliberate and methodical when it comes to his work. He is also a perfectionist. These qualities served him well on this build. The barrel fit is especially nice, as is the detail work on the finish. I can only see one problem with Jason's work. While he does very well at what he does, unless he speeds up drastically, Ted, Ray and Steve have nothing to worry about from "Burton's Custom Pistol Emporium, Bail Bonds and Loan Sharking". He would starve to death trying to do this for a living! I have watched him carve and beat on this gun for the better part of a YEAR! Having said that, he did a great job cleaning up the mess of bad angles that Colt left him. The good part is he has one even WORSE under the bench. I want to see what he does with THAT one!

Keep up the good work, Jason! Maybe someday it will "Yo-Bo-Burt"!

Jason, the pursuit of perfection revolves only around attention to detail. Very few have the tenacity and patience to dedicate to striving for that unattainable goal. It is obvious that you do. You'll go far, my friend.

Hey man, very nicely done. I agree with the statements above, great eye for detail, tasteful mods, and great pics to go with it. You should be proud and the owner should feel extremely lucky. Ted says pretty soon you'll catch up to Ray 8)

Gentlemen thanks so much for the kind words, I greatly appreciate them. :) Building guns is fun, no doubt about it.

No not really... The reason for that is due to Colts idea of a “dehorn” being to only over grind the corners on the slide to eliminate any hard edges. Not the most fun area when you’re trying to make the gun look nice.

Very nice Jason.

My eye loves the feel of it. If you built it I know it shoots too! :D
