As long as I'm posting photos today, I thought I'd throw a couple in for you revolver fanatics :D:

This rig was built for a customer with a 627PC 5 inch:

And one of the belt alone just for fun:

Matt-

Al took the words right out of my mouth (he's speaking for me a lot these days :D ) The rig you built for me is fantastic in just plain black leather, but this, sir, is a work of art.

Simply magnificent. (thanks Al :D )

And you've arousewd my curiousity, whats the background?

Gee Chip, should I talk directly with you or through Al :D

You're both very kind and I thank you!

In answer to your question, the background is the inside of my Dad's chaps. He had them made when he was the foreman of a ranch for awhile following his return from the Pacific Theater.

I'm sure that's a treasured heirloom. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all again! The customer wanted something other than the "normal" shark belt so I suggested what you see. It's more difficult (straight smooth cuts and careful placement) than a full shark belt but the payoff was that it turned out even better than I saw it in my head! Glad to hear so many like it too.

Chip: Yes those chaps are treasured. They are in incredibly good shape considering the number of times he and I got them soaked in rainstorms and flooded creeks and rivers. It's funny the thoughts that run through your mind as you age. A while ago, my 3 year old Grandson was sitting on my bench "helping" me work. He picked up a small ball peen hammer from my bench and as he held it I had to smile and tell my daughter, "You know, he's the fifth generation to use that hammer. It was my Grandfather's." Isn't that somethin'?

Matt, That is one of the most beautiful rigs I've ever seen. Simple but elegant, and precisely executed..
That's a nice story about your Dad's chaps, and your Grandson too!

Matt,

You have surpassed yourself again. The amount of detail and extra work to get the center strip of shark looking that perfect is amazing.

Best,

Ray

Chip, I did not mean to offend sir. I apologize. You know I would never dream of intentionally doing so.

Matt,

That's one heck of a good looking rig. Makes me wanna go get a revolver suited for carry.

Al,

It's hard to offend Chip. He's thick skinned... kinda nice, too.

Chip,

Al answers for you not because he feels the urge, but because you are actually long lost twins. He feels your vibe, man.

GOD Bless yous guys.

Matt,

That is really awesome - I sure hope that some day the quality of my own work can muster 1/10th of the appreciation that yours gets!

Awesome job, Matt! You've outdone yourself!
I can appreciate how labor-intensive that belt was. I made a similar one a few years ago for a customer in dark brown leather with a strip of gold ostrich in the center. What a pain-in-the-ass keeping everything straight and parallel! Nice job!
