I have been on a custom snub nose kick the last couple of weeks since I picked up a S&W 25-2 2.5 inch with a round butt conversion about 3 weeks ago. I went to the local show and look what came home with me. Should be just the ticket for some hot rodded 44 specials.

I like that the flutes are polished. Looks nifty.

But you gotta do something 'bout those grips.

Thanks for your post. I'm glad you like it. I had a S&W model 29 converted by Mag-na-port to a 2.5 inch called the Terminator. I traded it off. BIG MISTAKE. I was thinking about having my Colt 6 inch in 45 Long Colt done but now I don't have to.

It had a set of custom wood grips on it but I took them off since I like the
original Colt grips better

Don't you know it. What I like is if you look long enough you can find all sorts of custom stuff for a real good price. I picked up the little snub Colt for about the price of a regular 6 or 8 inch and best of all it hasn't been shot since mag-na-port. How does someone have all this work done and then never use it?

Maybe the guy wanted to get two sets of earplugs and two sets of muffs first.
I'm betting that thing is a tad noisy.

TJ,
Being a horrible "accumulator" (as opposed to collector), I have to plead guilty as to knowing how one can have some neat pieces that never quite make it to the range! I have too many "safe-queens" myself. That applies to handmade knives as well as firearms.
I love to shoot, but time just gets ahead of me and some of them seem to gravitate to the rear of the safe and "disappear" for years at a time. It is horrible, but an addiction of sorts.
I have to say that when I get a package from certain 'smiths, there does seem to be an urgency to get to the range. Don Williams (ActionWorks) comes to mind in that category, as does my recent package received from Yost-Bonitz (Steve Bailey). The work of those men just doesn't even get to the safe without shooting.
Best regards,
Jeffro

Are you sure it was by Magnaport? I thought the Terminator series was made by Jovino.

I had a flirtation with this type of revolver about five years ago. I had two of the 3" Model 29 Hunters (full lug barrel and unfluted cylinder) and decided to make "the ultimate combat magnum" out of one of them. I sent it to Weigand's for their "Tame the Beast" package, plus conversion to DAO. It then was chromed by AP&W. I also installed Meprolight Tritium sights and the Hogue monogrip. The final element was to have a Magna-Trigger installed so I could use it as a nightstand gun when my children were too young to understand what a gun was. In retrospect, I would forgo the porting (the blast is horrendous, even though there is essentially no muzzle flip), but otherwise, this is the perfect .44 snub for me.

This piece rests in my nightstand, loaded with Silvertips.

Nice looking S&W. The Terminator I had was made by Magna Na Port. It was a blue model 29 cut down to 2.5 inches with a converted K grip.
It came in a custom wood gun box and was number 3. I suspect it was made in the mid-80s I found it on Guns America about 3 years ago. I always wanted one of Jacks guns but now he's out of the business. I wish I would have purchased some of his custom barrels for his 357 package. I also liked his Ruger Sp 101 conversion. I know Gemini Custom does this package now and I might just have to get one soon.

Very nice looking custom job! I have a weakness for these myself. I have two Weigand tamed SP101s and a Magnaported 625 (don't quite know why I did that but it seemed like a good idea at the time  ).

I strongly recommend you never do any "speed rocks" with that baby or it'll burn off your clothes !

I now have a 625 3" nightstand gun with bobbed hammer and Cylinder and slide fixed rear sight.

Bob.

I'm in the queue at C&S to have them build me something on an older 629 Backpacker, including their fixed sights. I'm looking forward to it.

The "Tame the Beast" package that Jack Weigand used to do on SP-101's was one of the best gunsmithing projects I ever did. He did two for me, one on a gun with the 2.25" barrel and one on a gun with a 3.06" barrel. The 2.25" gun has the Hybra-ports as well; this gun actually recoils downward with 125-grain magnums. The best feature was breaking the edges of the trigger; the factory-issue Ruger trigger is unshootable for me. The three-inch was my primary carry gun from 1995 to 1998 and still sees a bit of carry time.

I have a .22 LR SP-101 that I inherited from my father. I think it might be heading to Gemini Custom for that intepretation of the "Tame the Beast" package. Of course,
