Howdy
Is it possible to reduce trigger overtravel or increase reset time on a Hi-Power?

Yep.

Not easy or cheap, but entirely possible to cut the travel by half, or slightly more.

What has to be done ?

Does it affect the quality, reliability or weight of trigger pull?

How much?

I know this is something that I hear other Hi-Power shooters complain about and I would think many of us would be interested in having this remedied.

I own several BHPs where Ted has reset the trigger reset distance; they almost feel like 1911 triggers, as the reconnect is that quick. There has been no degradation in reliability and at least one has seen several thousand rounds of use (sorry Ted, I haven't shot that many rounds through the pair yet; my daughter says don't shoot MY GUNS DADDY!). The difference in the trigger feel and quality is worth the expense of having this done, especially if you're spending $50 to ship to your smith for action work anyway... what HP doesn't need an action job. I think Ted got my trigger pulls down to a reliable 4 lbs, but that is guaging by feel.

I checked the price list on your website and it didn't include this modification. How much would this mod cost above and beyond the trigger job?

Thanks.

Badger,

I have been testint a Hi Power that Ted worked up for an article. He did his reset job and I can vouch for it. It feels real real close to a 1911 and you almost miss the reset. Well worth the cost!

Ted's Hipower work is TOP NOTCH!!! I love mine, wish I had done the reset with the trigger job, but I didn't know such a thing could be done at the time. The rest of the work I had done...basicly a SRTpackage, is great and she has had many thousands of rnd thru her with no problems. In a Brommeland MaxCon V the gun disappears to everyone else...and ME! Great CCW set up! I can't say enough good things about Ted's work or...Gary's.
