Hi All,
I've read that titanium firing pins are undesireable and will cause light strikes.
I've also read that they are desireable because they accelerate faster and reduce lock time.

Any thoughts from actual experience?

Scott

I have never had a problem with any of my 1911s with Ti firing pins. Of course, I don't use reduced power mainsprings.

I see no need for one. Absolutely, no need.

While I don't think it really decreases lock-time (who could tell ?), they do allow guns that otherwise would not pass California certification tests.
I have never read of any negative effects on their use, as opposed other parts in Ti.

In guns with no firing pin block safety they can be an asset coupled with an extra power spring. I've used them and never had a problem.

I agree with Al. It's my understanding that a low mass firing pin coupled with an extra power spring greatly reduces the chance of a discharge if the pistol is dropped.
