....the owner of this gun called the last one I did for him the Black Stallion so I figured White Horse might be OK for this one.

Nothing terribly wild on this one. Conamyds, girth reduction at the MSH, FLH magwell.... Tripp did the chrome on it. This is the first chrome job I've done with them in quite a while and oh, is it nice. I've never seen such great coverage in the nooks and crannies, which is really not easy with chrome. Also, just the overall evenness of it, and without a bunch of frosting and buildup on the corners. A really, really nice job, which I really appreciate since trusting somebody to refinish a gun you just put weeks into ain't easy.

Grips are from Duty Rated, dutyrated.com, G10 material. I've thinned them and applied the pattern. Sights are obviously Heinies, I've recessed the tritium inserts forward to make them visible only to the shooter. The mag is the original Colt body with the floorplate TIG'd on and a Tripp 7-round spring and follower substituted for the Devel-style spring and follower it came with.

The big hole under the thimb safety-- well, it just usually happens that way when you get this area as high as it can be.

The brick work is fantastic. Wish you could do mine. Oh sorry, what a beautiful gun Ned. But what else would we expect? A brilliant idea on the nite-sights if I say so myself! One question, I noticed you said you thinned the grips and they extend past the grip bottom in the pic. Is that a worry? It looks like they might break during reloads?

That looks like Ned's "Grip Panel Assisted Mag Well"

If you look the grips are tapered towards the frame's beveled mag well. It's kind of like a magwell without a magwell. If you look at the magwell Ned milled a nice 60 degree bevel around the frame's magwell back into the mainspring housing. So that coupled with the extended grip area makes for a larger opening in which to ram the mag.

Oh and G10 is some tough stuff, so if you break that you are pretty tough yourself

Looks great! Can we get lots more close up pics of the details? Sight rib?

What I really like about this gun is the way that Ned undercut the frontstrap.

At least it looks undercut, it's hard to tell. But it's very graceful, nonetheless.

Here are the only other pics I have..... moderator, if I'm over doing the pics, dump them or let me know and I'll downsize them. Just that since I got my new computer and connection and actually have the power to upload these pics in less than 90 minutes, it is tempting.

The fronstrap junction with the underside of the trigger guard is undercut, and, yes, the grips hang below the bottom of the magwell as the frame has been cut there to the depth of the mag baseplate cut. So, the grips hag slightly below this and are andgle to help out as mag-funnel area. I have not seen any durability problem with this, even using walnut grips and a very high-use gun. Can't say the walnut stays pristine but no actual chips or cracks or suchlike. With G10 of course the toughness goes way up.

That is one beautiful 1991 A1.

I particularly like the horizontal top of slide serations.

I have been thinking of picking up a cheap 1991 A1 for a project gun.

This is my first post, and I am glad to be here.

I collect and shoot 1911s - almost exclusively.

Simply fabulous, Ned!
Love the slide-top treatment and bevel on the slide-release.
And yes, Tripp does a very nice plating job.

Ned as a kid-

Ned's Mom: Nedly, it is time for bed, put your plasma laser, your stereo microscope, the cold fusion mock up back in your space shuttle, it is time for bed.

Ned: Man, if she finds that mousetrap, she is gonna think I am stupid. That thing will never catch on.

:P Stunning work as always Ned. 8)

Man, am I glad I did!

Ned, that pistol just rocks. All that work on the top of the slide is really quite astounding and unique... Thanks for sharing; we're expecting to see a bunch more pics out of you, now that you've got that speedy super computer!!!
