Fellas,

I just got my hands on a new Colt WWI reproduction, and I'd like to see some pics of any that the builders here have done. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I don't have it in my paws yet, so I've yet to see what the fit and finish are like.

I'd leave it as is. It's going to be somewhat collectable and sans the crappy sights, I actually prefer the original 1911 over the A1 variation.

I agree with Kev. If you want a gun to have some work done on it, go buy a NRM Series 70. Leave the WWI Repro alone.

Jim,

There was one a few months back (and a few pages back) if I remember right. Done by the YoBo Crew, and pictures posted by Steve on the board.

Best,

If he wanted that he should have bought the polished nickle 38Super with mother of pearl panels that Springfield is currently offering.

I wouldn't hesitate to cut it up. I seriously doubt that it will have enough collector value 30 years from now to warrant keeping it as is. Ted had some good thoughts on guns as an investment a couple of months back. If you're interested in the guns value you would be better off investing the money in IBM than buying a gun and keeping it as is. From what Ted sai when I asked about doing a full house on that base they turn out very nicely.
