Hey everyone!! I'm new to the board and very impressed with how this is ran. Everyone has been so curtious and willing to help. With that said I wanted to share with you a phone call I had yesterday with Stan Chen. Forgive if this ends up being long but I want to give this my full thought.
I know everyone is familiar with Stan, however I was not. If you look through the board you will notice that i had some questions on a colt 38 super. Being new to the board I started looking for pics of guns that I could take ideas from for making my new baby a custom. That is when I ran across Stan's work on a blue Colt 80 series 38 super. The pics floored me. I had never seen work like that done on a 1911. So, I jumped on his website to see what he could do to my new colt. Well, if anyone has been one his website you know that he is so busy that he is backlogged, which is a good thing for him bad for me. I was still curios about prices and what he could do so I called and left him a message. He called me the same day. That again was to me incredible. I have called so many places and you get some lady or man that doesn't really know what he or she is talking about and you leave the conversation a little more confused than when you started. But to my surprise not only did Stan call me personally, we also had a conversation, and quite a long one at that. In the world of true custom guns personality has never been a trait that I have seen deemed important by the smith himself(this board is the exception, please take no offense). Stan went over what he did to the weapon and why, which to me was very impressive. It wasn't all the facts that were impressive to me it was the authority and knowledge that he expressed to me that wowed me. I guess i will end this message even though it is quite a bit short of the praise that i wanted to give but it is starting to get quite long. Stan if you ever read this thanks for taking your time to talk to me. And to everyone on this board lets keep Stan hoping for years to come.
