Just came from a local shop in Southern California picking up a new pistol.

While I was there, I spotted a Parkerized .38 Super Mil-Spec. I assumed it was used and asked to see it. It was for $579 and seemed new. I asked and was told that SA was again producing the pistol and this was a recent one received through their distributor this week.

Hopefully, this is true. I know a lot of folks are running around looking for base guns for .38Super. This could be good news for those in the market.

Jeff,
THAT does bear checking out. I am a great fan of the .38 Super, and would jump on one of those in a heartbeat.......... after all, I "need"  one of those for sure!! I will check with my FFL and report back if I get any definitive info.
Thank you for the "heads-up"
Best regards,
Jeffro

I just checked Springfield's website a minute ago to see if anything was on there yet. They do show a listing for the Mil-Spec .38 Super but in Nickel right now.....I would think the Parked version would be a natural follow up!! I might have to get me one of them to try!

The parkerized .38 Super was out for a while, but was pulled in 2004 leaving only the nickle model in their catalog.

Hopefully, what I heard is correct.

I called Springfield and talked to Tammy in customer service first thing this morning. She said that the parkerized milspe was back in production. The model number for it is PB9113L.

I checked all my distributors and none list them. The hunt is on. I need a new super project gun.

Bullseye gunshop in Tacoma Wa had 2 of the Springer Supers as of last week. MilSpec parkerized with ramped barrels. They are under $500. I don't have the phone # off hand but I'm sure they are listed. I was told they were "vault guns", whatever that means.

The 2004 guns had ~.580" barrels, with ".45 bushings", as opposed to the skinny barrels Colt uses on their Supers. I've seen these guns referred to as bull, not because they dispense with the bushing, but due to the much-larger-than-Colt OD.

The one I saw last weekend appeared to have a .45 bushing. The barrel was definately thick walled.
