I have been a fan of Austins guns since I was a kid. Always wanted one of his round butt short barrell N frame conversions. Well I have one now thanks to Bruce Warren. Now if I could just find one of his chopped BHP or SW 39's.
SW 58 41 mag
Barrel clipped to 2.5" and magnaported.
Ball detent in yoke
Action like butter

Gary, That is BEAUTIFUL! That's as close to my"dream revolver"as I've ever seen. You're one lucky fellow.

That's sure one to be proud of!
He did some neat things, didn't he? I'm still kicking myself for passing up a Behlert mini BHP a few years ago.

He seemed like a nice guy too.
I made a similar comment about missing out on that mini BHP on another forum last year, he read it, and contacted me. He asked if I'd like to see a really special mini BHP with enfraving and gold inlay that he made up for a prince. I responded that I sure would like to see that sometime. He asked for my address, but I thought nothing about it.

A few days later, I got a large envelope in the mail with his return address on it. Inside were several pictures of that gun, plus a picture of the Colt dome in Hartford CT, and another of a group of silhouette shooters from the 70's. He wrote a note explaining each.
He took the picture of Colt's dome by stopping the family station wagon along the interstate, hopping out, and snapping away with his camera.
The picture of the silhouette shooters was like a gathering of the founding fathers of the sport.

He didn't know me at all. He just thought I might like them. He was right.
It was maybe two weeks later at the most when I heard he passed. I wished I'd met him face to face.

I could just kick myself for selling all the Behlert guns I have had over the years, maybe 7 or 8 in total. Now that Austin is gone his guns are really going through a revival.

There are a lot of Behlerts out there. He smithed for over 40 years. They can still be had at reasonable prices if you shop around.
