There was an old thread where some of the smiths discussed their mathematical formulas for sighting guns, sight hight changes at different distances, etc. anyone know which thread this was?

Fundi, It's a pretty constant formula: Divide the difference in inches of POA vs. POI by the distance from the target in inches (15 yds. is 540 inches for example), then multiply the result by the sight radius of the gun. You'll get the difference in sight height desired. For instance, let's say you're shooting at 25 yds, and you're point of impact is 1.5 inches lower than your point of aim. Divide 1.5 by 900 (inches in 25 yds), which gives you a sum of .0016666. Multiply this by the sight radius of the gun, which in this case we'll say is 6 3/8" (6.375). Your difference is .0106, which I'd round off to 11 thousandths (.011). Works whether you're impacting high or low of POA. Hope this helps,

I've seen you explain that multiple times, Don. I'll bet you're not even referencing a document, are you...? Sounds like you do it all in your head.

Harold, After you refer to the print a couple hundred times, even I can remember it. :D
