I've got my Milt Sparks VMII on order, but I need a good gun belt to keep her up. 1.75", and I'd like very plain smooth black leahter. Who has the best option? Who can get it to me in the next 8-10 weeks?

Thanks folks!

Try Mike Meredith at PCS Holsters (he has a website, or contact me for his number).

Mike is a protege of Lou Alessis, and makes some great stuff.

My problem right now is that my weight is not stable. In the last few months I've got from tight-fitting 34" waist pants to very loose fitting 30" pants...I think I've lost about as much as I want to lose, but I'm going to wait for it to stabilize a bit before I make the call.

Boy oh boy, I remember the days that I used to wear a size 30 inch waist, I think I was about 12. Great, now I am depressed.

Within limits many belts can be shortened.

This from The Belt Man and many others will offer service of equal but not better quality.

Don't go punching a lot of new holes in the belt! Send the belt back to us and we'll shorten it from the buckle end. (Throw in a ten dollar bill to cover the job and return shipping.) Any dual-layer bull hide belt can be shortened TWO inches, FOUR inches, or anything six inches or more. They cannot be shortened three inches or five inches.
Sadly this sort of thing just allows me to outgrow my belts once again.

<><> I have two belts from The
Beltman,,, one is all bullhide,,, the
other is bull/horsehide combo...

They are some of the finest belts I
own...

I also have belts from some of the
well known holster makers,,, and I
would rate Beltman's right up there
with the others as far as materials
and workmanship...

Chiming in late as a newbie. Rafter S Gunleather makes a fine belt at a better than fair price. Moreover, Steve, the owner is a real gentlman.

I'm recovering from a broken back and having the same weight fluctuation issues. From 206 to 169 lbs 36 in waist to current 33in and hoping to get back into my 32 in clothes. I have just decided to use Wilderness Instructors Belts until I can get my weight stabilized and have some nice ones made. Just a suggestion.

God Bless

I'm praying that my waist size stays stable right where it is - I'm between a 30 and 32, depending on the pants. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find 30-Long pants?

I'll probably just call up Milt Sparks again and add a belt to my order before it goes into production. I think that's the best solution...one brown, one black. :)

+1 for the beltman. I own a 1.5 bullhide and it is a great belt for the money. The wait is usually about 5-6weeks. Go to http://thebeltman.net and check out his selections. Hope this helps you out.

chiming in really late here,
I seem to remember a guy who made a sturdy leather belt with polymer inside to keep it from stretching. Anyone know the maker, I forgot.

I have since had a custom belt made that was completely designed structurally by me (which means it was a PITA to make). It is simply gorgeous, but I'm a cowboy and so its probably not most feller's style. Its a ranger belt re-engineered to be a gun belt.

I highly recommend either having Lou, Matt or the other LTW guys who really know how to make a belt build you one OR go to your local "quality" saddle maker or custom bootmaker and have one built exactly like you want from scratch. I try and keep all custom craftsman in business that I can so everything I can have made custom by an old world craftsman I do and it pays in the long run and I like it much better. I'm calling Matt this week for a new holster order.

The belt I had made was so overkill made out of 2 pieces of saddle skirt leather ( fully hand tooled) that to get my 55BN holster on ( LOL already) I have to wedge the holster against a door jam with my hip and with both hands pull the belt thru the slots. My dog looks at me funny too

God Bless

hey nick , it doesnt look the best but, http://thewilderness.com/ has the best "carry" belts i think money can buy. i have the model with the polymer insert. it makes carry a breeze. PLUS if you lose a lot of weight you have a ton of room for adjustment.

downside , it doesnt look as nice as a leather betl, but if you have your shirt covering it, no one will see it anyway.
