I usually carry IWB, but try to make sure I have a CQC/S for any gun that I might carry on the belt.
I only have one 55BN, but not because it's a bad holster. Quite the contrary. I just like the CQC/S better.

If your choice comes down to snap loops vs regular loop and slots, maybe this can help-
I think the CQC/S is as stable as standard loops, and is easier to put on/take off. Quick on/off may not be an issue for you. It wasn't for me, but I found it to be pretty handy once I had it.
So I find the snaps are a nice thing to have, with no negatives.

Now I have to tell my standard, oft-told, CQC/S story:
One of my favorite handguns is the HK P7. It's short barrel/slide and heavy (for it's size) steel frame make it somewhat grip heavy. Without a properly designed holster, it can tend to flop out away from the belt.
But it rides firmly in place in the CQC/S.
Some holster makers can't manage that with standard loops. That Lou Alessi can do it with snap loops is pretty amazing, and says a lot about the design.

I looked for my 55BN, but can't find it.
I wanted to put it on a belt next to a CQC/S and post a picture in case that would help any. Sometimes it helps me to see two holsters on the same belt, as it shows differences in how the gun will ride.
Anyone else got them to show?

Barry,

You've been a big help...throughout my period of confusion. I'd like to see pics if theu're available. Seems the decision is narrowing down to the CQC/S after talking with a great guy by the name of Craig. Much appreciated. I had considered the alessi doj or doj/s based on some forum info. However, it sounds like they are a better choice for a 1911. Hmmmmm, maybe for my BHP??? Gosh, this adventure appears to be getting expensive.

I've got some pics of both of those on a belt. I'll try and post them tomorrow. They are both great holsters, but quite different IMHO.

A lot of holsters sort of "kink"(for lack of a better term) the belt around the slots which not only looks unsightly but uses more of the belt also.
Lou's CQC/S and DOJ, which I use both by the way, allow the belt and holster to lay flat and countour the body. A much underappreciated feature until after a purchase is made.

CQC-S on left, 55BN in middle, and #60TK on right.

The 55BN rides higher and the CQC-S holds the pistol a lot closer to your body.

That's the kind of picture I had in mind. I thought that would help more than anything I could possibly describe.

I just bought the Alessi from Craig and was amazed at how much better it tucked the gun into the body than my previous 60TK.

The 60TK was for a BHP and the Alessi is for my G17. You won't be disappointed with the Alessi, and the snaps do not make it any less secure than the loops IMO.

I've carried a P226 in both holsters, and the CQC-S wins hands down. FAR more concealable than the Sparks rig, and being able to snap it on and off the belt is a big plus. I can carry a P226, Glock 20 or HK USP45F no problem in a CQC-S, and frequently do. Best OWB rig going, IMO.
