Hi, anybody know of a good gunsmith for a 1911 located in the SF bay area? I want someone that can produce work that rivals that of Nighthawk Custom, Les Baer, and Valtro. I've heard good things about Alan Tanaka, but he's located all the way out in Gardena.
Supposedly smiths named, Bill Davis, Kenneth Genecco, and Bruce Gray live somewhere around here. Anybody know anything about these guys?

no one in SF, but closest one to us is John Jardine of Valtro. But he is a very busy guy you can try calling him and leave a message and just hope he calls back. His numer is 510-489-8477

FYI, NighthawkCustom will customize your pistol for you and be pretty quick about it. Jardine is a lost cause from what everybody's saying on wait time.

Hey guys, i appreciate the help. But hmm, last I checked Craig over at Nighthawk wasn't too open to customizing a pistol that wasn't a Nighthawk. I'll check into it further though.
Thanks again!

I know a good guy that is a friend of mine that was very helpful to me when I went public with pointers and advise about how to get going in this crazy business and is also a very good pistolsmith. His name is Ray and rund del Valle gunsmithing. If you email me or PM me, I would be happy to provide his email address and phone number.

Bruce Gray/Grey? from just outside of Sacramento is supposed to have a really good reputation. When I lived in Sac I saw one of his 9x23 full house 1911's built on a Springfield if I can remember. It was pretty damn nice...super tight, excellent trigger, excellent finish. Didn't have a chance to shoot it -It belonged to a guy who did an FFL transfer for me in South Sac. I'm sure you could find Bruce's contact info on google. I was more impressed with that 9x23 than the nighthawk I shot as far as fit and finish, and the FFL said it was a tackdriver when he competed with it.
