Here are a few photos of a Series 70 stainless Colt I just completed. This pistol was set up from start to finish as a true holster gun. It's my favorite type of build! :) Credit to my buddy Chuck Rogers for the serrations.

WOW!

Beautiful and Sophisticated while keeping the Classic JMB 1911 lines.

Bob, A very nice piece. Love the look of hardchrome or stainless 1911's.

Whats the story with the barrel bushing? Is it thicker than normal and then blended back underneath? Or is the barrel just cut back flush with the bushing? I love the look what ever it is and want mine done that way.

Thanks for all of the kind comments.

The pistol was blasted with new glass beads at 80 PSI. The newer the beads the brighter the finish, in my experience. Downside: it will REALLY highlight surface flaws.

45Fundi,
The bushing is by EGW. It's thicker than standard but I still flush cut and recrowned the barrel. And yes, it was recontoured. Glad you liked it!! :D

My favorite pistol! A 1911A1 Military look with just the right amount of work. Vertical cockers, no front cockers, and then all the right touches to take advantage of the things that are needed to bring it up to snuff! I have one in the shop that I am putting together from "spare" parts. A Colt non rollmarked casting and Caspian frame. It will have a Storm Lake barrel and some other goodies. The only problem is that when I polished the forging marks out of the slide flats, the cockers were flat topped to the point that they need to be recut. I think that sending them out to someone to correct back to the right look would be the right thing and you just proved that to me. I had also thought about using a ball end mill to do some vertical scallops to the slide, but that would take away from the retro look I think that I want for the gun, and looking at this one just confirms it.

Very elegant and understated, as always. I love to look at the Jedi Master work that all of you guys post for inspiration. That is why I hang out here.

Jess

I happen to know the owner of this beautiful pistol. I told him that it's too pretty to shoot, he replied that he's going to shoot the snot out of it  and carry it in the hot, humid area he resides in. And he's an awesome shooter himself. I might even beg him to let me bust a few caps.

Bob... the melt looks butter smooth and the soft gleam of the metal is delicious... gorgeous looking work! The melt and overall finish gleam is unlike anything I've seen others doing. That looks like a gun that would feel very smooth and comfortable in the hands. Nice!

The pistol looks even nicer in person and while it is beautiful on the outside, the inside is superb ! Little touches of work every place. I almost didn't want to shoot it.

Not only does it look great, the trigger is nice, and the pistol works ! I put 400rds through it yesterday and this morning, ran without a hitch (100rds of various HP ammo.)

Bob Rodgers is good !

Its soon to have a Harrison pistol as its pal, this is a good year, for sure.

Really nice work. I like a nice hard chrome gun almost as much as blue. For a carry gun, if you don't mind the "flashy" hard chrome finish, I am not sure that there is much out there that will wear as well. It will be interesting to see how some of the new generation finishes hold up over time.
