I didn't know where to put this so if in wrong place I'm sorry.

I have a set of absolutely gorgeous Craig Spegel cocobolo grips on my carry gun. The left grip panel which rubs my skin is turning very dark.

Is this normal? Can I reverse it ? Can I stop it from continuing to darken?

I've been told numerous times that Cocobolo will darken with age/use. Probably has something to do with our body oil being absorbed. I don't know if there's anything you can do to prevent it.

absolutley normal when in contact with the skin; nothing can be done about it and why would you want to?

I hate to tell you but it is normal - the oil in your hand is affecting the color of the grip. The only way to stop it is to strip the current finish off of the grip down to the raw wood of the grip and then seal it with a polyurathane (spelling?????) sealant like you do for a hardwood floor. But, that would destroy the grip (in my opinion anyway).

I have the same problem/complaint about my Desert Ironwood grips, but that is the price I pay for having gorgeous grips on my carry piece.

Darn! I had perfectly matched bookended panels and in just 2 months of wearing against the skin the left side is almost black except for the top half which is behind the holster's rub guard. Live and learn!

I've got a beautifully made set of ivories that are yellowing nicely on the body-side, but are still pretty white on the outboard panel.... :?
