Ted,

You know me and how I feel about this whole project. I have had the pleasure to spend a short time at Ned's and he is also a one in a kind type of guy.

For what you have done for me in the past and for what you all have planned for the future speaks highly of the industry and the true masters.

Anything I can do to help let me know. I don't know snot about building guns but, I do know my way around a computer.

Guys,
I am very excited about this project. I see a lot of potential to do a lot of good things with this idea. I appreciate everyone's hard work that has contributed and hope to get a chance to roll up shirtsleeves and join in!
Best Regards,

WOW!
I'm flattered to have been invited as a member of this group!
It sure looks like we already have some of the best in the business here.
It does not get much better than to work with you guys to help
the needy and promote an image of professionalism and competence
in the gunsmithing community.
Let's have some input as to our first project. :D
Chuck

Amen to all the above comments, and thanks to Ted for an absolutely sterling idea. Being included in all this company is a privelege. Hopefully, this will turn out to be an organization that will be able to do a lot of good for some folks out there.

If somebody had told me five years ago I'd be invited to be a part of something like this, I'da said, knock me out until it happens, I can't wait. When Ted called me a couple months back and gave me an outline of the idea, I was incredibly flattered to have been included as a candidate..... I think it's a great endeavor. I'm proud to have my name on any list that includes these guys, especially one attached to a mission such as this! I hope I can live up to all, I'll certainly do my best, guys.

Bravo! This is an awesome thing you guys are all doing. I have custom pistols in the pipeline with every smith here except John Harrison (I will remedy this soon). This tells me that I have selected my smiths very well. Not only are they consumate artisans, but they also give something back to society.

I like the ideal that the forum name expresses. Too often you find people who pay lip service to ideals or causes, but never really do anything to further them. Since I am devoid of any gunsmithing skills, I would like to contribute a NIB SA WWII to the cause. I hope you can use as the basis for the first pistol you build for this project. Ted, I will get it shipped to your shop next week.

John, That's a mighty kind thing to do, and is highly appreciated. Thank you both for your gift, and for your support. It means a lot!

My Dad and Grandpa always talked about folks needing to "give back" some of what they've been given. As I recall, they were always doing something for others. Not for glory or money, just because it was the right thing to do, and it made them feel good to do it. My earliest memories of my exposure to things in the shooting world include the fond memories of both family and strangers. At no time did my dumb questions go unanswered, never did I have to ask twice for help on anything. I was raised to believe, and still believe that the shooting and hunting fraternity is the last stronghold of the American gentleman, and all the title embodies. We stick together, we help each other, we help others, and we do our best to preserve our legacy. We also have some fun, and enjoy each others' company! My hope is that this place always holds true to our ideals, and our hopes and wishes for the future. I intend to enjoy myself a little - I hope you all will too.

By the way, Bailey-man, what a pleasant surprise to find you here. Well, the whole thing's a pleasant surprise, really, since I had no idea until yesterday that a site and forum was part of it! Actually I had nearly forgotten about Ted's call and was thinking the whole thing was still in the "what if" stage!

Hey Ned,
I have been learning the "black arts" from Ted since he moved to Tempe. I am having a great time. When Ted first talked about this site and the people who would be associated I told him I would assist and carry as much of the load as he asked. I can't think of another organization where it is represented by the fine smiths as well as fine people as we have here. I can't believe it is finally a reality. I believe this is a very positive step for the industry and the people that will be effected by it. No grandstanding, no single minded approaches, just great guns by great people, and something to go around for those that are not as fortunate as we are. I still can't believe the collection of smiths. 8) I am looking forward to talking with all of you. By the way John DP, that IS a very gracious gift and I can't wait to see the first LTW project. I can't imagine getting a gun worked on by any combination of these guys. And no John you can't buy 5000 tickets. :P Well, I guess you could. Thanks again John.
Steve

John,

Thank you for your kind contribution to 'the Project'

Hope you don't mind if it looks a little different when finished!

:D :D :D

What a fantastic idea! I had the great pleasure of having lunch with Ted today, where he filled me in on the project....the philanthropic mission of it is simply outstanding.

I am completely flattered and honored for the invitation to join, and excited for the opportunity to work with such fine craftsmen. That is one heck of a list of TALENT. I'll work my hardest to live up to the calling.

All the best,

Hi Stan-- Glad to have you. A month ago or so when we "got acquainted" I had never discussed you with any of these guys-- in fact i had nearly forgotten about Ted's idea and had no idea it was so close to launch, but my point is, I though your work looked great, and apparently the other guys did too, independently, so, welcome!

Welcome Stan!

Great to see another 'Colorado Boy' on board. Quite frankly, I was getting a bit nervous, what with all the Arizona Smiths here....

Next time I'm in Durango, we'll have to go to Scoot 'n Blues for a burger!

Cheers, Tim

John, That's extremely kind of you, and speaking for all of us, it is very much appreciated (and maybe you'll win the gun!). Also nice to see Stan here, who's doing top notch work (just quit using them really long words like philanthropic wouldja?). Had to look that one up - found out it's a stamp collector ??????!!!!!! :?

Hey fellas,

The sun is a little brighter, the air a bit sweeter this fine morning. I was in a wreck last night coming home from Chuck's; I'm not one to overdramatize things, but long story short, a snowbank that someone put between me and a ravine is the only reason I'm chattin' w/ ya. Other than a bad headache and stiff body, I'm OK.

Tim, Scoot n Blues is still rockin! Hey, the only reason them desert rats got all that green grass is cuz we give'em the water to grow it.

Heya Don, I shall endeavor to acquit myself in a more linguistically colloquial comportment. Ya mean we're not building guns for underprivileged stamp collectors? That's what I signed up for! Woulda liked to stop by on my trip, say hello and raid the grip drawer, but I was pushing it timewise as it was.

Yikes Stan - glad you're ok. Hope the damage to your Harley was minimal.

Glad to hear Scoot 'n Blues is still kickin. They have got the best hamburger I've ever eaten! Seriously, sometimes my bride and I will hop on the Harleys and ride down to Durago just for one of those burgers!

For you 'flatlanders', that's riding over 3 passes - each of them 10,500 ft or higher. The burgers are THAT good!

Cheers, Tim

Stan, Glad you're OK as well. Didn't know you had one of them twin wheelers. Used to ride (as did Chuck), though no Harleys - in those days they tended to shake themselves to pieces - seems that AMT makes better bowling equipment than bikes. The grip drawer is pretty bare at the moment, as I just let the order slide trying to get work out the door. I did finally though get an order in to Ahrends today.

So Stan, what are you going to do with the rest of your new life?

Thank God you're okay and that you're still young enough to be 10 feet tall and bullet-proof. Wait......... that's prolly what got you on the bike to begin with. :)

Anyway, glad you're okay, Dude!

Thanks guys, this whole day has been really weird; I'm not a 'dweller' typically, but in the back of my mind I keep considering the alternative...like not being there for my wife who's expecting our 2nd kid in 2 weeks. :(

Don't know where the Harley rumor came from, I'm way too much of a sissyman to be a hog rider. I had all that fun last night in a '90 Toyota pickup, first car I ever bought @18 yrs. old and I'm still driving it. Slid across a sheet of ice in the mtns @55mph, altogether about 270 rotation, plowed into a thigh/waist deep snow bank for a good 60 ft. or so before coming to a stop a 30 degree angle at the edge of a big drop off.

Doc says I'm walking away with a minor concussion and whiplash...coulda shoulda been the end. I'm cool, just started getting a little foggy this afternoon, I missed 3 turns while driving from just 'spacing out'. Had the truck looked at, I'm not gonna bother fixing the cosmetic stuff, other than some dent pulling. I think some scars are meant to stick around with ya.

Thanks for the concern!

Stan,
Elated to hear you are okay. Funny, about fifteen years ago I did the same thing in a Toyota 4x4 on my way to Flagstaff, AZ. It sure got my attention and my girlfriend never let me live it down. Ted told me about this today, again I am glad everything is fine. Now, get yer melon straight, you got a gun comin' :P

Take care,
Steve

Guess the 'Harley rumor' started with me, fellas. Heck, seeing as how Stan is a fellow Western Sloper, I had just ASSUMED he was on a Harley...... :?

I'll get my facts straight next time.

Cheers, Tim

Yo Ray! Nice to "see" you here. We'll be talking by phone ere long I believe.

Stan, welcome back from the edge. Close calls certainly serve a purpose, I mean life is better now, obviously, even if nothing's changed. Don't go getting hooked on them though!
