Is there anything different about the barrel of a gun that uses a collet style bushing instead of a solid bushing that would cause me to have to replace the barrel when switching to a solid bushing? Or can I just replace the bushing alone?

To properly install a fitted bushing on a Colt Series '70 collet bushing barrel, one would need to remachine the OD relief farther forward on the tube to align with the fitting bore of a solid fitted bushing. Even if the barrel is getting a "drop-in" bushing, the relief should be moved forward to prevent the chance of the bushing binding in battery.

On the radius, yes.
