As you look at all the guns that are posted on LTW you realize that really good guns are worth keeping. Like friends, women, and 15 year old bottles of Scotch.

Burton and I have been friends for several years now and since his bench is next to mine it is fun to go back and forth on several things trying to figure out what we are going to cut next or if we should do this or that to a particular gun.

He started this one for a very good customer not long ago. As I watched, it was interesting to see it come together. I will tell you Jason is not fast at building a gun....but he is obsessive. Because of that I would have him build me a gun, in fact I have every intention of having him build me a gun.

Ted would tell you that Jason has a keen eye for detail, and if you tell him "yeah, that is fine" he would respond "I don't want fine, I wan't perfect" How can you argue with that.

JB is determined and plans the build of a gun very, very well. He has done a number of guns in the shop but since I am a sucker for two tone classic guns this one certainly caught my eye for photos. A classic two tone, with a tried and true leather design. Everything on this gun is done at the highest level.

When you work withing the parameters of what the customer really wants and pull it off like this...then you are certainly on your way to making alot of future customers happy. This is a fine rendition of a classic gun.

It just would not be as much fun if Ted got aggravated and made Jason move his bench to the back of the shop. We have some great and trying times doing this, and this is the result. BV....congrats man. If you don't like it I'll buy it.

Great job Jason. I can attest to Jason's attention to detail to point of being anal about them. This is the end result. I saw a stainless Colt he built for his best friend before he moved to Az. After seeing that build before having any Real training, I knew great things would be forthcoming. We sure miss ya up in the Pac NW, but I'm glad to see you living your dream. Congtats to the owner.

PS: this gun started as a blued MKIV that I'd sent in for an enhanced 1*... Jason had his input in various aspects of the gun...I just listened, and said GO FOR IT

We don't have a lot of rules in the shop. Common sense things like safety, teamwork, and tread lightly on Lew's nerves often go without saying. Two that are repeated frequently are those I've carried since day one - Be nice to people, and do your best for the customer. They're not my rules, I just borrowed them for my lifetime, and then they'll be someone else's.

The one unwritten and rarely spoken rule is the one Jason has taken to heart. It's pretty simple - "each one better than the last" .

Look for great things from Jason. I'll do my part, supplying equal parts teaching, pushing, over-expecting, and even some plain old abuse thrown in for good measure. He's going to surprise some folks. He won't do it by blustering about what he's learned from the "real deal guys" or the millions of rounds he's sent downrange, or by just proclaiming himself the newest internet 1911 guru. That scenario's been played out enough. He knows that the only way you make it long term in this game is to actually get dirty, frustrated, tired, sore, and eventually feel incredibly rewarded when it all comes together. It's a job learned the hard way, because there just isn't any other way.

Jason dreams, (probably asleep and awake) of how he can build exceptional guns. I think he's well on the way.

Excellent! I spent a few hours talking to Jason a couple of years ago, in between being amazed by some fine entertainers, and I immediately classified him as a friend. He is straightforward and has the ability to look at things from all angles. I have no doubt that he will continue to sharpen the transition to becoming one of the best--he has the drive and the ability to get his brain around things--traits shared by all of the greats.

Don't forget me when you blow up, I need a Burton gun, Bro!

When you talk with Jason just on the phone, you can sense his passion for 1911's. I can only imagine the beautiful 1911's we are going to see as he keeps learning how to transfer that passion into the pistols he is building.

Wow TendonCutter, that is a beauty. Jason certainly built a classic there. Besides the gun, which I can't say anything else about that hasn't already been said, whose Polkowski knife? I think the Kaspar designed and Polkowski built Pug is one of the best concealed fighters around. Of course, the one in the pic isn't a Pug, but it's still sweet. Nice combo.
