Here are a few snaps of a Springfield I just finished up for a southpaw shooter. Everyone has their own take of the "perfect" carry gun. This one is fairly plain at first glance, but it still has all the right stuff.

Image

The front strap and mainspring housing serrations are by my buddy Chuck Rogers.

Image

Not only was the frontstrap high-cut, the trigger guard was also undercut to the max to get the hand deeper into the gun.

Image

Cylinder & Slide Tac II hammer, Brown grip safety, Kings ambi-safety, dehorned Heinie rear sight, and a Kart barrel.

Image

The owner wanted an S&A magwell, but asked me to reduce the footprint as much as possible. I rounded the back, opened up the interior, thinned it vertically.....

Image

... softened the lines, and narrowed it to match the slightly thinner VZ grips.

Image

Image

Image

The barrel was recessed into the bushing and recrowned at 45 degrees. The bushing was beveled at 45 degrees to match.

Image

The finish is Enviro-Tech over Mil-Spec Parkerizing.

Thanks for taking the time to look!;)

I'm a north paw, but that gun suits me to a T. I love it. The Springfield Pro/Bureau gun doesn't come close to this gun.

The thing i love about magwells is how they tailor and smooth out the hard angles on the base of the grip.. well that magwell accomplishes the smoothness and keeps the extra size and weight off... perfect!

I especially like the level of detail on the dehorning, and the matt bead blast finish.

Bob, that's a beautiful 1911, built for a proper-handed person (and never mind that Randy Cain says that all of us left-handers should be drowned at birth). :D

Is is January yet?

Best Christmas wishes to you and yours.

You know Bob, every time you post pictures of your guns I wonder why I don't hear your name more often on the various message boards when people list top smiths. You haven't posted a picture of a gun yet that didn't catch my eye. Whatever your doing keep on doing it.

Nice; very subtle work, especially on the high cut/ undercut of the trigger guard.
