Posting for a bud....

He recently purchased a used S70 Goverment serial # 70G range but the roll marks on either side of the slide are faint/light. So any ideas how to sharpen them up and maintain orginality?

The letters, numbers, rampant colt, etc. can be individually engraved to deepen them. On 1911forum, a lot of folks recommend the services of Bill Adair, for restoration of old Colts.

I'll second that! Bill worked an Ithaca slide for me at it turned out very nice.

+1 more on Bill Adair. I talked with him about doing some slide restoration work for me, but sold the pistol before I had a chance to send it to him for work.

I have a customer's slide at Bill Adair's shop right now, and expect it back in a few weeks. This slide, like the rest of the gun, needed some TLC. I am looking forward to seeing it when it returns. I will be sure to post pictures when the gun is complete.
