Here is a question for Lou. I recently found a used Alessi ankle holster with the pull through snaps for a Colt Defender. I have a Kimber Ultra 3" that fits perfectly into the main body. The Kimber has the ambi safety on it and this makes the pull through snaps slightly too short. Is there an easy way to stretch the leather a small amount or would you recommend removing the ambi safety?

I also want to comment on the quality of this holster. The boning and stitching on the holster is definitly some of the best I have ever seen. The comfort level is outstanding, easly permitting all day carry. To anyone that has not treated themselves to a custom holster for you favorite sidearm, you are really depriving yourself. I highly recommend Alessi as a great product and well worth the wait to aquire one. :D :D :D

Hi Jack, If you only need to stretch the straps slightly try wetting the straps in hot tap water, put the gun in the holster, and pull on the straps
to get them to engage.

Once you can get the straps engaged, let the gun sit in the holster for at least an hour.

You may have to dip the straps for as long as a minute to soften them enough to stretch them, but that should work.
You can cover the back of the slide with plastic wrap to protect the gun from the water.

E-mail me at LFAlessi@cs.com if you have any problems, and thanks a million for the compliment on the holster!
Lou

Thanks for the assistance. I tried it last night and it worked perfectly. The snaps now work with the Kimber. I do have an additional question? In general do you recommend the retainer snap straps. As well as the holster fits the gun I am not sure that you really need them.

Jack, We do make those ankle holsters in an open top version, and they retain the gun very well.
If you feel that the gun fits tightly enough, then, I don't see any reason why you can't cut the straps off. They are really only there for the people who are concerned about cocked, and locked carry on the ankle.
