I want to get the grip safety that has the tallest pad avaialble (occasional problems with disengaging it). I currently have an S & A with a pad.

It looks like the Ed Brown Memmory Groove is the tallest and longest (extends up farther towards the pivot), but that is just an opinion from perusing the Brownell's catalog. Maybe they are all the same.

Can any of you who have had experience with various makes chime in here?

Thanks,

5Shot

I switched mine to a Caspian Speed Bump, no matter how I grab it, it will engage.

You can always go with Novak's one-piece backstrap/beavertail combo - don't have to worry about not de-activating it !

John,
I've got guns with both Eb Brown and an XSE Colt with the Caspian speed bump if you want to see how they feel.
Give me a call................Jeff

5 Shot, when Kimber was first building 1911s in Oregon, they brought out 5 guns and a case of ammo to a USPSA match at Tri County Gun Club.
I loaded one up and tried everything I could think of to get it to fire, no luck, I handed it to the guy next to me and he emptied the whole thing no problem.
I have a Kimber Compact in with Don Williams right now and he is going to sensitize the grip safety among other things. Just another option if you prefer one safety over another, Mike.

Mike,

I don't have the problem all of the time, but if my grip prior to the draw isn't spot on....forget it!

I am going to try a few different ones (going to give Jeff a call), but this gun will be on it's way to Jason Burton eventually, and I will definitely get the issue resolved.
