Just got my Colt back from John Harrison today! Unfortunately I won't be able to get to the range for I don't know how long. Oh well, family and work have to come first, or I am out of the house with no family! Here are a few pictures that Joh sent me when he was ready to ship it out. When time permits I will post more pictures if desired and also a range report. Without further adiue(sp?).









The list of things John did on it are as follows:
-Novak Lo-Mount wide notch bar-dot tritium sights
-Re-crown barrel flush with barrel bushing
-Function reliability package
-EGW oversize firing pin stop
-Wilson Bulletproof extractor
-Duty/Carry trigger job set at 4.5#’
-CMC High-Tech disconnector
-EGW hard sear
-King’s Commander hammer
-King’s short, solid black trigger
-Serrate front strap 20 lpi in Cameo pattern, includes truing and high gripping
-Ed Brown arched MSH modified for flush lanyard loop
-Machine grip safety spur for Commander hammer clearance
-Machine bevel and hand finish mag well opening
-Carry Bevel Package
-Refinish in Standard Blue (400 grit)

Initial thoughts. The gun is so much better in person then the pictures can convey. The craftmanship is first rate and all the work that John did is meticulous. As I said, I can't wait to get to the range with her and blow through a couple 500 rounds or so!

Congrats! That is one very nice business gun. I have yet to see anything from John that I don't like. I agree that is a cool mainspring housing! I also like the buisness end of that barrel. Very nice touch.

Barry, Thank you for the compliment. For some reason the rowel hammer with the dished out grip safety is what I wanted. Kinda retro modern look I guess.

HaveBlue and Schlamoo, thank you alos for the compliment. For some reason I wanted the lanyard loop, but not out in the open where it can dig into my side. This way I can secure when in the woods and not worry about losing it.

And trust me, I can't wait to let all of you know how it shoots. If everything works out I should be able to get to the range Friday night.

It is an awesome feeling after looking after all the pistols that are on this site to have one of my own built by one of the great artists on this site!

tex, Thank you for the compliment. The grips are by VZ and are their Operator model. They have a good grip but are not super grabby.

Very Nice! I'm looking at an almost identical build. Is that a stock Colt safety? What is the quality like on them?

The safety is a stock one that John Took the sharp edges off of as part of the Carry Bevel Package. So far I have had no problems with it. I do want to say it amazes me how well this pistol shoots. I was at the range yesterday and a guy was in the lane next to me with his wife/gf saying how inaccurate a 1911 is. An old gun and not accurate at all. So I ran the target out to 7 yards a preceeded to put all bu one round into the 10 ring on a large silhouette target with my old 1911. They left shortly after that. And I had taken a shower before going to the range.

Sweet, man. I really like its functional appeal. It screams ... "wear me out if you can." By the way, I'm a long-time repeat customer of John's and despite my best efforts have failed to wear out even the first gun he built for me several years ago. Enjoy.

I love the melted grip safty and frame tangs. It is really quite comfortable and lets your thumb knuckle ride high without beating it up.
